ISB Hyderabad-Guidance Tamil Nadu pact to aid investment, economic growth post COVID


Hyderabad: The Indian School of Investment (ISB) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Guidance Tamil Nadu to promote investment and one-stop-shop facilitation. 

The partnership between ISB Hyderabad and Guidance Tamil Nadu will bring intellectual resources of ISB to resolve issues in investment promotion and economic recovery of the state. The Chief Executive Officer Neeraj Mittal of Guidance Tamil Nadu and ISB professor Dean Rajendra exchanged the MoU on 18 September during a virtual event. 

The Guidance of Tamil Nadu, single-window facilitation under the Government of Tamil Nadu is an agency for investment promotion. Earlier in 2019, it succeeded in recording exports worth USD 30.5 bn for the state. This collaterally contributed 9.3% to net exports of India.

According to a press release from ISB, the main aim of the MoU is to work on economic recovery to monitor growth, especially in the aftermath of the Coronavirus pandemic.

ISB and Guidance Tamil Nadu gears up with new Initiatives 

Indian School of Business executed the program under the new initiative named "JumpStartIndia@ISB". The program has a group of students who will work with the research team and expert faculty members on crucial issues on economic recovery and growth.

B-School will look into growing a method for the pharma and chemical sector of Tamil Nadu and sync it with environmental sustainability.

Referring to the MoU, Mittal said "Engagement with BSI through Jump Start India is an important start in government academics and industry working together in these testing times. The role of the university in developing innovative solutions for economic recovery has never been more critical".

ISB professor Rajendra Srivastava stated that academic partnership has become important to solve the growing socio-economic issues of the country. 

He said, “I am happy that ISB has the required rigour and strength to come up with evidence-based research work, which will enhance the government's decision-making abilities leading to the fulfilment of aspirational development goals,”.

He added, “I compliment Dr Neeraj Mittal and his team for making this partnership possible.”
