Jadavpur University to Revive Free Coaching classes for NET on Students’ Demand


Jadavpur University, Kolkata will start the coaching classes for National Eligibility Test (NET) aspirants through a digital setup following the COVID-19 crisis. The classes will be free of cost.

The coaching classes used to be held every year in offline mode but due to COVID circumstances, this year the University decided to revive the classes in online mode. The news was confirmed by a Jadavpur University official.

NET (National Eligibility Test) is an exam conducted every year for the post of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship & Assistant Professor in Indian Universities and Colleges.

The classes are set to commence in the month of October. The decision was taken after a large number of students demanded the same before the NET (National Eligibility Test) which is to be conducted from September 24. 

Registrar, Snehamanju Basu urged the teachers who are willing to take introductory classes to enroll themselves on netcoaching.teachers@jadavpuruniversity.in by September 30.

The Pro-vice-chancellor Pradip Kumar Ghosh informed that classes will be carried through digital platforms as the COVID cases are rising daily and no one knows when the situations will become normal.

For easy access to study material, a central repository will be prepared where all the files and study material will be stored. As soon as the content is uploaded on the location, it will be notified to the teachers and shared with students. The files can be in word or pdf format, audio notes, or even video recordings.

The University official also informed, “The same platform will be used to upload the content for NET aspirants.’’ 

Apart from this, lectures and other study material (in the form of videos) will also be uploaded on YouTube for quick future reference. 

The University officials said that regular online classes for UG and PG students have been successful and this pushed them forward to take the NET coaching classes.
