JEE Main 2021: Changes Brought in Registration Process

Candidates can check the five important changes below that NTA has declared:

  1. Initially, students need to understand that they can fill out an online application form or register not only for February but for all four, i.e. February, March, April and May 2021 exams at this point. Only one application per session would be acceptable – students need to register once and share the sessions for which they would be registered for the first time.
  2. As the examinations are being carried out one after the other with short gaps (check JEE Main 2021 exam dates for all the sessions here), there would be little time after one exam to register – so candidates can register for more than one exam right now. However, the application window would be briefly reopened at the end of the February exam in case students wish to register for the March, April or May sessions.
  3. Fees for all sessions would have to be paid by the students during the registration process right now. For instance, say a student wishes to register for February, March and May session, then he/she needs to pay the fees for all these three right now. The fees, however, is refundable.
  4. If a student wishes or is unable to attend any particular session for which he/she has registered, he/she may apply for a refund of the fees. The student will not be able to transfer the registration to another month. The fee refund must also be applied for within the time the application window is opened. To explain it further, say the student registers for the February and April exams right now. Due to some unforeseen reason, the candidate finds himself unable to appear for the February examination. In that scenario, the student may apply for a fee refund but must do so until the window is opened – that is, by 16 January 2021. Also if the candidate does not withdraw or take part in the examination, he/she would not have been able to take part in the March exam because he/she had not already registered. They may, however, apply for a session of March 2021 when the application portals are reopened. However, no transfer or fee or refund would apply.
  5. At the end of the year and most importantly, students can apply for a different city for each exam. If a student feels that he/she would be in another city during a session, he/she can choose a different exam city. Students may, however, note that this year, JEE Main 2021 will be conducted in 13 languages including English, Hindi and Urdu and regional languages. The regional language option must be chosen at the time of registration. The city of exams and regional language options are also linked. Therefore, students can carefully choose the city of exams.

All interested candidates and parents are advised to carefully go through the information bulletin for JEE Main 2021 and understand the changes before registering. The online application forms would be available till January 16, 2021 and fees can be paid till January 17, 2021.
