This decision was made in view of the current COVID-19 pandemic situation. As about 1,75,349 candidates turned up to take the exams, it will be difficult managing counselling and document verification sessions in offline mode, given the social distancing norms.

Deputy Chief Minister of Kerala, C N Ashwath Narayan, who is in charge of the Higher Education department, also tweeted announcing KCET 2020 results stating despite the challenges that COVID-19 pandemic has thrown in, students fared well.

About 63 students who were tested infected by Coronavirus or arrived from containment zones at exam centres were provided special arrangements to take exams. Deputy CM recalled, “GetCETgo”, an online training platform, has been successful in preparing students for the exam.

He even said, “... document verification will be done online, there is no need for students to come physically. Counselling will also be done online.”

As only assigning ranks cannot be the way to confirm admissions, verifying original documents will help in allotting seats to the deserving candidates.

The KCET counselling process will be held in the month of October and dates will be announced sooner. Academic sessions will begin from November as per the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) calendar.
