MAHE Manipal Introduces Master’s Program in Indian Philosophy


Department of Philosophy of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) invites applications for the newly launched Master’s program in Indian Philosophy.

 MAHE designed the course for students from different academic disciplines to apply and explore varied philosophical subjects. 

The course is aimed at students who have completed their graduate studies to offer professional opportunities in translation, publication, teaching, research, digital humanities and computational linguistics, art and cultural organizations, NGOs etc.

Ranked 8th by NIRF in the year 2020, MAHE offers the program involving critical and interdisciplinary approach towards discourses of Indian philosophy. The course will introduce philosophy as a skill set for its future application in research studies in academic fields. 

Thus, adding to the competencies of students necessary for achieving diverse career pursuits.

The duration of the course is 2 years and proficiency in Sanskrit is not a prerequisite. Students can apply for MAHE Admission 2020 online and the last date for sending applications is June 30.

Srinivasa Acharya, Department Coordinator, said, “This programme offers an intensive course of study which allows students to engage and employ theoretical and practical facets of philosophy and liberal arts. 

The main aim is to help students cultivate an understanding of Indian intellectual and cultural traditions. They will conduct interdisciplinary studies/ research in philosophy, humanities and sciences, which will help them, engage in debates of social, moral, and intellectual importance.

We are hoping the skills and knowledge they acquire here will not only benefit them in their professional pursuits but also help them understand the environment of the world that we are living in. Interested students can apply online.”

The key highlights of this program encompass research-oriented study on axiology, philology, ontology, epistemology, acquisition and Sanskrit proficiency. It also includes comparative and interdisciplinary approaches and integrates traditional and modern pedagogical approaches.

The master’s program comes with added opportunities of worldwide collaborations for research and interactions with international scholars and a chance to exit after a year with a Postgraduate Diploma degree.
