The Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) has declined admission to Bachelor's and Master's Courses of Physical Education i.e. B.P.Ed. and M.P.Ed, in the new session.
This MDU step is a measure for non-grant of recognition to the courses by the National Council for Teacher Education, a statutory body under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Earlier on a notification dated May 12 stated that MDU had been accorded recognition to run B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed courses from 2006-07 to 2017-18 backdated.
Head of Physical Education department, Professor RP Garg said, "We will not be able to admit students for the want of fresh recognition. The fate of students admitted during the last session hangs in the balance."
He further added that they were in correspondence with the concerned authorities for recognition.
