Students taking admission in private or deemed universities are left in a dilemma. These universities need not rely entirely upon JEE or CET scores and whereas follow their own admission processes.

Students are also worried that if they cancel their admission in these private colleges, they may let go of a part or full money submitted earlier, as these universities have stiff refund policies.

The principal of Thadomal Shahani Engineering College, GT Thampi informed that he had been receiving many calls from aspirants curious for admission.

Thampi also said, "Uncertainty over admissions is adding to students' anxiety. With no clarity in state or national level exams, many parents want to send their children to private and deemed universities. The state government or state CET cell needs to reassure students when the exams will be conducted."

On the flip side, parents said that due to the COVID-19, many government exams have been postponed and refund policies in some private universities are stringent, hence students are left with no option but to let go of seats.

Parents also requested to relax the university rules in these pandemic situations. There are universities that allow zero refund if admission is withdrawn 30 days after the last date of admission.

NMIMS Registrar Meena Chiontamaneni also confirmed that they have been receiving mails for fee concession. Meena said, "Students should write to the dean. Such applications are being evaluated. The university is considering 15% of such cases to pay the fee in installments."

Somaiya Vidyavihar University, a Mumbai based newly-formed university charges INR 2.8 lakhs for FYBTech. The university is conducting entrance tests for engineering admissions and is also accepting JEE Main score from December exams.
