Mumbai University Extends Exam Application Submission for Final Year Students to September 20


The Mumbai University has extended the last date to submit the online applications for final year examinations till September 20, 2020. The final year exams are scheduled from September 25, 2020.

Candidates who have not applied yet can visit the official website of Mumbai University and grab the extended opportunity. Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant announced the extension in the submission of exam applications and also informed that Mumbai University has the highest enrolment in the state.

As per reports, 2,47,500 students have applied for MU examinations. Out of this, 1,70,000 are regular students and the remaining would take exams to clear their backlogs.

In response to students' fear, Uday Samant also clarified that in the result certificates awarded to students COVID-19 or COVID certificates would not be mentioned. He said in this regard, "The certificate will be normal, a regular piece of paper."

The practical examinations have already started from September 15. After the practicals, the backlog examinations will be held from September 25 to 30. Thereafter the theory exams are scheduled from October 1 to 17. 

Since the exams are decentralized, the responsibilities lie between clusters of individual colleges and leading colleges. The exams will be conducted online only in the wake of the COVID-19 situation and the paper format will be MCQ based. Read Guidelines here

MU has also directed the affiliated colleges to conduct offline exams for students who don't have online access, as per the SOPs and guidelines issued by the government.

Since the Multiple-Choice Question format is new, students expected a question bank from the University. However, the colleges are not doing so and are planning to hold mock tests instead. The principal of one of the colleges also cleared the air saying that the circular released read that comprehensive is required but does not say colleges have to share it with the students.
