Mumbai University Final-Year Exams 2020 to be Held Online, Practicals Start on 15 September


The University of Mumbai will be holding the final-year examinations for 2020 starting 15 September. The examinations will be held online.

Mumbai University has not released the complete timetable yet. However, it is expected that after the practical examinations are over, the backlog examinations will be held from 25 to 30 September. Theory exams would be held from 1 to 17 October, with the examinations for B.Com students being held first.

Students will have to take the final-year examinations from their homes. The question paper will consist of 50 questions for each subject; the duration of the paper will be one hour, consisting of Multiple-Choice Questions. The same examination pattern is expected to be followed for ATKT examinations.

The practical examinations and viva-voce for the final-year students will also be held online. Students will be tested for the practical examination either through a phone call or through a digital platform.

The decision has come after months of waiting over the Mumbai University final-year examinations. The Supreme Court recently upheld the UGC guidelines, making it compulsory for universities to hold final-year examinations in order to give away degrees.

Most of the state universities of Maharashtra are expected to follow the Mumbai University pattern for holding the examinations. It is to be noted that Savitribai Phule Pune University has already held the final-year examinations.

Mumbai University will release guidelines for the examination. The college will be working in clusters, with one college taking charge of a number of institutes. A mock test will be held to familiarize students with the online mode of examination.
