Mumbai University Hires Pune EdTech Firm To Conduct IDOL Exams; Check Details Here

Mumbai University has hired a Pune based new edtech firm, Splashgain Technology to conduct the Institute of open and distance learning (IDOL) examinations. 

The edtech firm Splashgain Technology uses remote proctoring on its platform named Eklavvya. 

There were around 5 companies that had applied under the new tender MU floated. Out of which 3 firms were shortlisted by the technical committee and later this Pune based firm was selected as this was the cheapest amongst all.

The splash again technology will charge Rs 10 per exam per candidate. However, 40,000 students are supposed to take the IDOL exam on Monday. 

Earlier, several affiliated colleges in Mumbai conducted the online exam via Splashgain Technology's platform Eklavvya. 

As per the MU official, the university will first conduct exams for a smaller batch of students. IDOL has floated the Google forms by asking the students to turn on their location in the device to take up the exam.

Previously, MU had decided to conduct the IDOL Exams via LittleMore Innovation Labs, but after two days of the fiasco. MU decided to float a fresh tender. 

Following the first tender, MU did not consider Edutech India, the second bidder, or Weshine Technologies which is the third bidder. 

An MU official said that few of the principals suggested considering the other 2 companies that were successful, but MU chose the fresh tender and considered Eklavvya as a tried-and-tested tech platform. Then they roped in the edtech firm to avoid legal issues.

Meanwhile, the candidates can download the schedule of IDOL exams 2020 from the varsity's official website. 

United Grants Commission (UGC) has also given its nod to conduct the IDOL exams for the first-year students. 

Even though MU doesn't have a NAAC rating, it is still one of the top 100 NIRF Universities.
