Mumbai University: Teachers Still Await Academic Calendar; Check Details Here


Teachers of Mumbai University still await the academic calendar even after the completion of half-semester for the academic year 2020-21. The academic calendar consists of details such as the start and end of academic sessions and holidays. 

The academic calendar helps the teachers to calculate the number of working hours and it also gives the schedules of examination and result. The teachers’ association has written a letter to Mumbai University in which they stated that the roadmap to proceed further academically is missing.

The teachers also stated in the letter that because of the missing of the academic calendar, they lack clarity. The teachers’ association also stated that when the COVID 19 pandemic delayed the beginning of the academic year, issue of the academic calendar would have allowed all the colleges affiliated with the Mumbai University to have some uniformity.

The letter written by the teachers’ association stated, “Since March 2020, the academic fraternity has had a difficult time in teaching and learning. Though there was a lot of miscommunication from the University and despite no firm guidelines from the academic and executive officer of the university, teachers conducted online sessions and online resources were provided as per the requirement to the learners. It is regretful that up till now the academic calendar has not been published by the academic and executive officer of the University.”

The General Secretary of Mumbai University College Teachers Approval (MUCTA), Subhash Athavale stated that the colleges usually have 90 days of teaching. But online classes are being conducted because of the COVID 19 pandemic. Hence teachers demand academic calendar to calculate the teaching hours.
