Mumbai University to Offer Online Program in Marathi and Hindi From Dec 31, 2020; Check Details Here


Mumbai University has announced the launch of two Master of Arts programmes in public relations and communications and journalism in Hindi and Marathi.

The programmes will be offered by Mumbai University in partnership with upGrad and will be offered in online and blended learning format. 

This will be the first venture of upGrad into the region of higher education courses in vernacular language. The course will be conducted for 15 hours per week and both online and live lectures will be provided to the students.

The lectures would be delivered by leading industry figures as well as faculty members of Mumbai University.

The chief executive office of upGrad India, Arjun Mohan said that this collaboration would pave the way for education in local languages.

According to Mohan, this decision would disrupt the rigid stereotypes usually associated with the eLearning models and make prestigious degrees available to all.\

Mohan further said that due to its affordability and flexibility, the courses will surely be picked up by more number of students. 

With the help of Mumbai University, the startup program aims to assist and help learners by providing them accurate guidance and updated academia. 

The course will also have placement support from Mumbai University which would help learners get an avenue for a job. Mohan further added that this would also help the government's efforts to double the country's higher education enrollment ratio.

Currently, the enrollment percentage in higher educational institutes in the country is abysmally low at 25%. 

E-learning courses such as these, which provide affordability as well as easy understanding due to the removal of language barriers, would help propel the enrollment ratio to 50% by 2035.

Mumbai University also said that the first batch of the programmes will be started from December 31, 2020. In addition, candidates who are differently abled will be provided with reserved seats to make their entry into the programmes much easier.
