NLSIU Bangalore: University Awaits SC Orders to Declare NLAT 2020 Result

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore is waiting for the Supreme Court orders to be out tomorrow i.e. September 16, 2020 regarding the declaration of NLAT 2020 Results.

NLSIU Bangalore successfully conducted the NLAT 2020 on September 14, after receiving a green signal from the Supreme Court. However, the Court restrained the University from announcing the results and admitting the students till the pendency of the plea.

NLSIU Bangalore: Plea Filed

The plea was filed by former Vice-Chancellor Prof. R Venkata Rao of NLSIU and a parent of one aspirant who challenged the decision of the University to hold a separate entrance exam. The plea said that the decision is solely directed at creating an elitist institution that caters to those who can afford to take the test and completely ignoring the aspirations of poor and less privileged candidates.

The petitioners also made a stance that NLSIU rolled out the decision to hold NLAT after the CLAT 2020 forms were filled by the candidates. This is in violation of the principle of promissory estoppel. Read more

A bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan, R Subash Reddy and M R Shah allowed the examination conduct but neither results nor any admission of students can be done. The court had posted the matter for further hearing on September 16.

The exam was conducted with an additional slot for candidates facing technical issues on September 12.

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) released the answer key on the same day of the examination. The final answer key of all the papers is expected to be released by today evening i.e. September 15. Candidates can visit the official website of the University to access the answer key.
