NMAT 2021 Additional Registration Window Open Till Jan 31, Second Phase to be Conducted in Feb; Check Dates, Eligibility, Registration Guidelines


Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the conducting body of NMAT has announced that a second phase of the examination will take place in February 2021. The application process for the second phase of the NMAT 2020-21 phase has been started today (Jan 18) and will be concluded on 31 January.

The registration for the second phase of NMAT will commence today (January 18) in online mode.  Candiates who already have an account and could not register earlier can use their existing account to fill the application form. 

NMAT 2021 Second Phase will be conducted over a window of seven days, i.e. from February 2 – 8, 2020. The second phase of the NMAT 2021 is intended for those candidates who have not taken part in the NMAT 2020 programme or have not taken part in any of the two retakes.

GMAC stated that 'Candidates who have used all three NMAT attempts conducted between July 01, 2020, to June 30, 2021, cannot register for the additional window. This means that the candidates who have taken the main attempt, as well as the two re-takes, cannot take advantage of this opportunity."

NMAT 2021 Second Phase Eligibility 

Applicants who have exhausted all three attempts during the period (July 01, 2020 – June 30, 2021) of NMAT 2021 exam are not eligible to apply for this session.

Candidates who have taken the main attempt, as well as only one re-take, can take advantage of this opportunity by appearing for the NMAT 2021 second phase exam.

NMAT 2021 Second Phase Registration Guidelines

According to the Examining Authority, candidates who already have an account but have not been able to register earlier can use their existing account and complete the registration process and do not need to create a new account.

Candidates will be allowed to make only one attempt in this window. Test centres and slots will be assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis. There will also be an option to take the Proctored Test from home. The pattern of the NMAT exam will remain the same. NMAT 2021 application fee shall be INR 2,300 plus taxes.

Talking about the rationale behind the second phase of NMAT, Gaurav Srivastava, Regional Director, South Asia, GMAC said, "This is to help candidates who may have missed the test earlier, as well as schools that require more applications and have extended the deadline for their applications.
