Patna University witnessed a considerable dip in the number of applicants this year

This academic session, there has been a much-reduced number of applications for the colleges under the administration of Patna University.

Perhaps owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the colleges affiliated to PU and Patliputra University (PPU) have had a relatively lesser number of applicants for its UG courses. The candidates have been notified to submit their applications by August 14.

Last year PU and PPU had applications rushing in with about 48,000 and 1,10,000. However this year the number of applications has dipped to 30,000 and 8,000, making it a huge disparity from last year. This is probably due to the candidates being concerned for their health and avoiding risks, causing lesser applications to come in.

Entrance examinations are conducted by Patna University in a combined mode for admission to colleges such as Vanijya Mahavidyalaya, Patna Science College, Patna College, Magadh Mahila College, and BN College.

The ongoing pandemic has caused a major disruption in the admission process of Patna University since the applicants for the upcoming academic sessions are at an all-time low, making it even more challenging for the university to sustain or plan for online classes upon the commencement of the academic year.
