Private Medical Colleges in AP Refusing PG Admission, NTRUHS Asked to Take Steps

The Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Association has requested the Vice-Chancellor of NTR University of Health Sciences, Dr Syama Prasad, to have the postgraduate seats of private medical colleges occupied in accordance with the rules of the university.

According to reports, the president of the APBC Welfare Association, K Sankar Rao has submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor of NTR University of Health Sciences asking him to direct private medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh to follow the rules and regulations of the university while admitting students for the postgraduate seats.

Reports claim that Rao said that private medical colleges are not admitting postgraduate students despite there being many vacant seats. The association said that though the government has fixed the fee structure for the private medical colleges, they refuse to admit postgraduate students using the fee structure as a pretext.

The association came out in support of the new fee structure, claiming that it will allow financially struggling students to access medical studies in post-graduation courses. They also requested the vice-chancellor to take action at the earliest.
