Selected NIT Warangal students to get direct admission to Ph.D at IIT Delhi

On Thursday, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal signed a mutual arrangement to collaborate on academic as well as research purposes.

This agreement will further allow the meritorious students from NIT Warangal to resume with the remainder of their education in IIT Delhi

Upon completion of their respective programs, these students will be granted direct admission to Ph.D. at IIT Delhi without having to appear for the GATE exam or any equivalent national level entrance examination for that matter.

The scheme is designed to help students of NIT Warangal to qualify for the Prime Ministers Research Fellows (PMRF) for Ph.D. at IIT Delhi. The highlight of this agreement is collaborative research work.

It will be instrumental in substantial improvement in the research output of the faculty of both the premier institutions to keep pace with the rapidly changing technologies and the environment by mutual cooperation, according to Raman Rao, director, NIT Warangal.

Students from NIT Warangal will not be charged any extra academic fees. The payments they are required to make will be to NIT Warangal itself. Students can even opt for hostel facilities on campus or elsewhere.

An exchange of BTech and MTech students, research scholars, and faculties will be common as part of this agreement. The students will be classified as "special exchange students", and will be able to participate in any research activities. Students for the exchange will be selected over the academic year.
