Shashi Tharoor, Senior Congress leader, has again pushed Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to postpone the state university examinations acknowledging the many health hazards that are risked by conducting offline examinations.
Shashi Tharoor has been constantly urging the state government to order postponing of the state university examinations in order to avoid any chance of transmission of the disease. Doing so would also relieve the students and parents of the stress of having to risk their health to give the exams.
Shashi Tharoor said in a letter to Vijayan that he had received more than 3,500 emails within the span of a week from students and parents addressing the concerns and strain that they are facing due to the exam-related decisions taken by the universities such as the Kerala University, Kerala Technological University, and Mahatma Gandhi University.
As the number of Covid-19 cases in the state is rising again, there is a serious danger that all the students will have to face when they gather in masses at exam centers. Several of the exam centers are situated in areas that have seen a high concentration of coronavirus cases and have been classified as hotspots. and the risk of exposure is immense.
