SPPU Final Year Exam 2020 Started from Today, Backlog Exams Pushed to October 17; Full Report Here


October 12, 2020: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has started its final year examination from today (October 12, 2020). While the final year examination dates for students with the backlog are now postponed to October 17, 2020, for various programs. 

Due to last-minute hiccups, almost 35,000 to 40,000 students with backlog could not appear for the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) final year examination on October 12. 

Technical errors have been reported in the examination due to which students couldn’t log in to the examination site or take the exam.

Exams for courses like BBA, BSC, BArch, and LLB have now been postponed to October 17.

To prevent the technical issues or glitches, the varsity has given students a day time to log in and appear for the exam. 

The actions will be taken to ensure there are no glitches or technical issues faced by the students during the commencement of the examination. 

Examination Director of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Mr. Mukesh Kakade said, "Only the date of the backlog examinations scheduled for October 12 has been shifted to October 17. Students appearing for backlogs papers, who have still not completed their login process need to check the same to avoid any last-minute hiccups".

He added," We have heightened cybersecurity so that chances of hacking the online exam process can be eliminated".

Keeping in mind the technical issues faced by Mumbai University (MU) during their final examination, SPPU has also taken care of cybersecurity to prevent hacking of online examinations. 

Due to the cancellation of the examination at the last moment, students are raising questions over the university examination planning. 

A student from the Commerce department of SPPU said," While the final year examination has already been delayed, SPPU should have planned better for the tests.” 

“Students have been informed that the exams are postponed a night before they are to sit for the papers, disturbing their preparations and mindset" he added.

The examination for regular students will take place as scheduled from October 12, 2020. A total of 2 Lakh students will be appearing for the exam. 

The vice-chancellor of SPPU, Mr. Nitin Karmalkar stated that the SPPU is the only university in the nation to take the examination of more than 2 Lakh students, taking the aid of technology due to the pandemic. 

“If students face any technical problems, they should not panic as we will take due measures. We will not compromise with the health of the students" he further added.
