TISS Puts Off Admission to M.A. Courses; Check Details Here

Following the Mumbai HC order, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has put the admission to M.A. courses on hold.

TISS Admissions 2020

A petition was filed by 49 students, stating that the admission procedure followed by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is discriminative, biased, and unilateral selection. Later on August 13, Mumbai High Court asked the institute to respond to the petition.

Students claimed that the marks scored in the in-person personal interview (PI) held at Mumbai Campus, were low in comparison to interviews held at the other three campuses of TISS. In the petition filed, it stated that the students who appeared in the online PI got more marks than the offline PI

Students have now demanded to re-publish the scores after revaluation. The institute has also been asked to publish the list of candidates applying for PG programs along with TISS-NET and PI scores under the category wise division.

Until the justification for discrepancies is provided, the petitioners have requested to stall the admission process. TISS have to reply on this matter by August 17 and the next hearing will then be held on August 18.

One of the officials said, " The admission process is clear and transparent. The changes in the admission process following COVID-19 have been duly notified. There was an inadvertent error in the output of PI marks, which were later rectified."
