UGC List of Top Central universities Released: Jamia Secured the Top Spot, RGU Second


The University Grants Commission along with HRD Ministry has released a list of the top Central Universities in India for the year 2020. 

The list was released on the basis of evaluation of performance of the universities every three months.

UGC released the list comprising of 40 colleges ranked according to their scores. JMI has topped the list. There are other notable universities who have bagged impressive positions in the list of 40 universities. 

Key Points of the Ranking

  • The Ranking was based on a Memorandum of Understanding signed among the central universities, the UGC and HRD Ministry. 
  • The Central Universities have been evaluated on the basis of 17 parameters.
  • Annual student intake and the students diversity in the Central Universities were major parameters of evaluation.
  • The Annual Placement record of the universities along with the record of scores secured by students in National Eligibility Test and GATE were also considered
  • Aspects like faculty quality, student-teacher ratio, teacher vacancy and other factors were also included in the list of parameters used to determine the score
