125 Students of VTU have challenged the decision of the University to conduct offline examinations this year at the Karnataka High Court. Read why this move agitated the students.

As per the plea, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has issued a notice to hold first-year exams and supplementary examinations online on October 19, 2020, for session 2020-21 due to covid-19 pandemic.

According to the petitioners, the decision is completely arbitrary, impossible and does not consider different interests of the students to carry out the term-end examination offline.

It fully fails to take into consideration the life-threatening risk of life which the students face. The term-end examination will therefore entail all the students travelling to Bangalore will be a big threat to the lives of thousands including students, teachers and members of the family.

In this context, it violates the right of the health provider to comply with article 21 and of article 14 which is the decision of VisvesvarayaTechnological University to perform offline exams.

It was also alleged that Visvesvaraya Technological University did not take into account the fact that MS Ramaiah College was found with 5 students being tested positive for Covid-19.
