World Environment Day 2020: IIT Bhubaneswar organised a Plantation Drive inside the campus

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2020, IIT Bhubaneswar has started a green culture campaign at their campus.

The plantation drive was inaugurated by the Director of IIT Bhubaneswar, R V Raja Kumar, who planted a sapling in the campus and started the campaign for green and eco-friendly culture for the residents of the campus.

The event was organized in a proper manner following the guidelines of social distancing and proper use of the masks were also considered to avoid the spread of coronavirus.

During the campaign R V Raja Kumar said that IIT Bhubaneswar always tries to carry out research in the field of green technologies aiming to reduce the carbon footprint not only by producing products, but also by emphasizing on the use of the products in our day to day life to achieve a sustainable ecosystem.

V R Pedireddi, Dean of Student Affairs, Srinivas Bhaskar, Professor of IIT Bhubaneswar, Col. Subodh Kumar, the Registrar, other faculty members and institute staff were the members who were present during this auspicious plantation event.

The Horticulture team of IIT Bhubaneswar aims to plant around 5000 trees of different varieties which will also include some fruit bearing species, within the upcoming semester.
