B.Tech CS at NIT Hamirpur (2018)

My brother graduated from NIT Hamirpur in the electrical branch in 2017, so I can tell you about it.

So let's start with the most important aspect for aspirants i.e. Placements. You haven't mentioned any branch, so I'll tell you about them all one by one.

  • CSE- Placement is good; approximately 90% of students are placed. Some reputable companies, such as Samsung, Oracle, and United Health Groups, also pay visits to the campus.
  • Civil- Very few core companies visit, and the majority of the guys are placed in L&T. During my brother's time, 30 students out of 90 got placed in L&T.
  • Mechanical- Core companies visit this branch with good overall packages with an overall placement rate of 70–80 percent.
  • Electrical- only fewer core companies visit campus. It all depends on luck sometimes.
  • Electronics- Some core companies visit campus, with the majority of the students getting placed in software firms.
  • Some companies, such as analysts and mass recruiters, prefer guys from any branch, so it all depends on the talent and skills of the individual.

Here are the placement highlights for the academic year 2020.

Highest CTC

42 LPA

Minimum CTC

4 LPA

Total no of offers

College life:

College life will be fantastic; if you like traveling, you can visit Shimla, Kullu, Manali, Dharamshala, Triund, Mandi, and Kinnaur. You can visit any of Himachal's tourist attractions due to its location advantage. Also, the college's climate and weather are great, and you will miss the heat even in the summer.

This college is located outside of major cities, so it is somewhat underrated, but it offers the best taste of nature, good internet connections, tasty mess food, a variety of canteens on campus, and, most importantly, friendly people. The people of Himachal are very nice, supportive, and friendly.
