Why did you choose IIM Bangalore over IIM Calcutta?

Both IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta are excellent B Schools that give an edge to each other in almost every aspect. If ever you see someone choosing one over the other then it’s only because of his/her personal preference because they both are not lacking in any terms.

Yet if I had to name a few USPs of IIM Bangalore that make it a more coveted IIM than Calcutta, here are a few

Being located in the IT Capital of India, Bangalore offers a locational advantage to a great extent
The corporate scenario is much better at Bangalore than Calcutta
The highlight is its Entrepreneurial culture delivered by NSRCEL which is IIM Bangalore's flagship business incubator. It is a non-profit institution purely assisting creators and funding startups in their journey.
Better internship and placement opportunities are offered here at IIM Bangalore than at Calcutta

IIM Bangalore has a better start-up culture. Due to the locational advantage, IIM Bangalore also offers better placement opportunities to students. The locational advantage helps students get good placement and internship opportunities. IIM Bangalore placements 2022 witnessed an average CTC of INR 33.82 LPA.

The vice-versa is also true. Many students especially freshers choose IIM Calcutta over IIM Bangalore.

My sister is a former student of IIM Bangalore. At the time of admission, she had to choose between IIM Calcutta and IIM Bangalore. She opted for IIM Bangalore and here's why:

Startup ecosystem in Bangalore is better than Calcutta as Bangalore is the hub of the country.
Bangalore has better opportunities in terms of internships and placements from local head-quartered firms.
