Bachelor's of technology Computer Engineering, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology

Among these, Thapar is the best option.

  • Thapar University has a better brand value.
  • Since the institute takes admission based on merit, the student crowd at Thapar is better.
  • Thapar University has a better faculty base, comparably.
  • It offers great academics. The curriculum followed is perfectly balanced between practical learning and theoretical concepts. The labs are fully equipped. The university has signed an MoU with Trinity College for providing a research-inspired educational experience to students.
  • Thapar has many societies. You can register in any of these and develop an interest in whichever stream you want. Each branch has its own students chapters. The aim of the student chapter is to help students excel in technical fields.

These factors make Thapar better than VIT and SRM.

Studied at SRM Institute of Science and Technology

I have friends from VIT Vellore, SRM, and Thapar. Based on what I heard through them I will rank the institutes in the following order.

  1. Thapar University, Patiala
  2. VIT, Vellore
  3. SRM, Kattankulathur (Main Campus)

Here is why you should keep Thapar as your first choice.

  • Tapar is at least 30 years older than VIT and SRM.
  • The batch strength for Thapar is lower as compared to VIT and SRM.
  • Thapar takes students based on their JEE Main rank, so the peer group is better.
  • The placement record of Thapar is better.

Here are the recent placement highlights of Thapar University.

Institute  Thapar University
Average CTC  8 LPA
Highest CTC  43 LPA
Major recruiters  IBM, Wipro, Infosys, D.E Shaw India, etc.

The fee at Thapar University is high and this can be a disadvantage but, VIT Vellore and SRM are costly as well.
