Which one is better: IIT Kanpur civil, IIT Guwahati or IIT BHU mechanical?

Mechanical engineering at IIT Guwahati is recommended over Mechanical Engineering at IIT BHU. IIT Guwahati has better infrastructure than IIT BHU. In terms of placement, both the colleges stand equally. According to 2019 placement statistics, 109 students got placed from the Mechanical engineering department of IIT BHU. The average salary offered at this IIT was 8.19 lakhs. In IIT Guwahati 87% of students got placed in 2019 form the Mechanical engineering department. 

The campus location and the milieu for studies at IIT Guwahati are better than those at IIT BHU. Also, the campus of IIT BHU is integrated with BHU, which makes the college a crowded place for students. Adding to that based on last year’s (2019) NIRF rankings, IIT Guwahati is at an overall rank of 7, while IIT BHU stands at an overall 11th rank. 

Civil engineering branch across the country has become oversaturated and the future prospect of a growing placement scenario seems a bit grim. However, the branch is relatively easier and has a brighter scope for researches across India as well as abroad. The teaching faculty in civil engineering at IIT Kanpur is excellent and the infrastructure is also good. In the 2019 placement drive, the average salary offered at IIT Kanpur was 7.5 lakh.
