Getting a seat in CSE at Assam Engineering College isn’t too difficult. You will need a score of around 150+ in CEE to get CSE in AEC. CEE is easier compared to national-level examinations like JEE. Go through the previous years' question papers to get an idea about the question paper pattern.

If you have cleared CEE then you must know the general order of preference for each branch. The list is as follows:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • CSE and E&T
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Instrumentation Engineering
  • Industrial Production Engineering

If you have set your mind to CSE at Assam Engineering College, you should aim to score at least 150+ in your exam. Ensure that you do well since negative marking has also been introduced.

However, a friend of mine said that CSE at AEC is not as good as it used to be. There are only 4 permanent faculty members present and his advice to you would be to consider better options. Moreover, CEE is not that tough to crack so you will definitely have more options to choose from.

If you are planning to give any entrance exam, it is imperative that you study regularly and hard to ensure that you achieve your ultimate goal. CEE is not that difficult as compared to JEE. As far as computer science engineering is concerned, your admission depends on the cutoff.

There are quite a few good books available in the market that will help you prepare for CEE. I think they are available at Pan Bazaar. As far as preparation is concerned, try to solve all the MCQs and complete the books that you buy. Many questions are also repeated on the test so you have higher chances of scoring.

You should also know that the intake for the CSE department is 20 seats only. And as of 2016, students who scored 195/198 also ended up taking CSE as their branch. So you can expect that the competition is going to increase. None the less, do your research and make a decision accordingly.
