Which university is better for aerospace engineering - SRM, Anna, or Madras Institutes of Technology, or Hindustan University?

My sister studies Aerospace Engineering at MIT and I must tell you that Madras Institute of Technology is one of the four campuses of Anna University. They are not different. It ranks #8 on the NIRF ranking portal, but its current placement rate for Aerospace Engineering is not that great. You may have found your reasons to join this program, however as a word of advice, here's what you need to consider before joining -

• If you're heavily inspired by the fact that Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was an aerospace engineer then I must burst the bubble with a reality check. He graduated in 1960 and things have changed a lot since then.
• If you wish to join because of more financial gains in the future, then you must know that Aerospace Engineering is popular and valued more in Europe and America rather than in India. So you can try to pursue it from a foreign University.
• If you think that the prospects for Aero will grow in the future because of the setting up of defense corridors and aerospace plants in India, then you should also know that even then more vacancies will be available only from the Mech, CSE, and ECE fields.

Similarly, don't join aerospace engineering because your teacher asked you to, or you have dreams of seeing rockets and other aerial transports, or if you wish to become a pilot or want to join ISRO/NASA for that matter. You must know that only 50% PSUs employ mechanical engineers through GATE, but only DRDO employs Aerospace Engineers with 5 vacancies in a year. So research with intent.
