The security at IIM Bangalore is quite strict. Not anyone can visit the institution for a tour. But if you are genuinely interested in a campus tour here's what you can do.
If you want to visit IIM Bangalore, it is best if you know a student or you can connect with any of the faculty members. As IIM Bangalore is very strict in terms of security, you cannot enter the institute otherwise.
You can visit the campus during the fests such as Vista, eximius, Unmaad, etc.
IIM Bangalore conducts various seminars and workshops which can be attended by outsiders. You can enroll yourself in one of these seminars/workshops. However, you have to maintain discipline while visiting the campus.
Hope this helps.
My brother studied at both institutes. He did his B.Tech from IIT Bombay and MBA from IIM Bangalore. According to him, it totally depends on what your interests are and what you want to do in your career.
If you are looking more for a technical career then go for M.Tech but if you are more interested in managerial roles then you should go with MBA. Here is a comparison between the two institutions.

IIM Bangalore and IIT Bombay both are among the most reputed institutions in India. Having said that, the selection criteria for both the institutes are completely different so make sure you are 100% interested in the program you choose.
IIM Bangalore has been patched with only one site for MOOCs which is edX and if you wish to pursue MOOCs through IIM Bangalore, you don't need any registration.
All you have to do is create an account or you can also sign up via Google, or Facebook account. Once you get registered, you can search for the university/institution with the course you are interested in.
On edX, IIM Bangalore offers 5 programs. Along with this they also offer 45 courses. Some of these courses are free, however you have to pay a small fee to get the course completion certificate.
I have a friend who is an IIM Bangalore alumnus and he was able to provide some information regarding the Executive Education program. The faculty for the executive education program is the same as the degree program. However, in this program, you will gain knowledge that is tailored to your career. Faculties teach their latest research in this program, and you will get the same networking opportunities in the program.
The following points will help you understand how this program will help you in the job market.
Brand Value: Executive programs are quite competitive and employers look at these programs favorably. Also, having the tag of IIM will definitely make your resume stand out.
Peer Group: You will get to interact with experienced professionals from the industry as peers and also as course instructors or speakers. The network you build there will be valuable in the future.
Industry-specific learning: Executive programs are more tailored to the challenges and problems that you face in the industry. This will definitely help you more.
Executive programs also have strict eligibility requirements based on your years of experience, managerial levels, etc. So, the students are screened for these programs, contrary to the common belief. Overall, doing an executive education program from IIM Bangalore will add value to your resume.
My sister is a former student of IIM Bangalore. At the time of admission, she had to choose between IIM Calcutta and IIM Bangalore. She opted for IIM Bangalore and here's why:
Startup ecosystem in Bangalore is better than Calcutta as Bangalore is the hub of the country.
Bangalore has better opportunities in terms of internships and placements from local head-quartered firms.
Here are all the details you need to know about the two institutions.

IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta are both great institutions. Choosing one of these institutes over the other depends on personal preference. I also know many people who chose IIM Calcutta over IIM Bangalore.
Congratulations on your selection at UC Davis and IIM Bangalore. Here are some suggestions which may help you to make your decision.
A good number of topmost and reputed jobs are based in California. And if you aspire to become a VP of a certain MNC, and save up some money, the best place to choose is the West Coast.
The economy of the USA is soaring high and hopefully, if you completed your MBA by that time, your chances of grabbing a job would be really high. Essentially because everybody over that region is familiar with the popularity of UC Davis.
Spending a few years in the US will be good. The experience you gain there will help you even if you want to settle down in some Indian company later.
Even from the perspective of the beginning, a start-up in silicon valley will definitely provide you more exposure, a better network, etc.
The network is one of the best to take away from any MBA college. So, compare the two institutes based on that parameter and choose according to your convenience.
I have a friend who studied at IIM Bangalore and based on his input, I would answer your query.
Here is an overview of student profiles from the last two year's batch.
Experience in years
15 and above
15 and above
Plus, once you observe the statistics that are mentioned, you would realize that each aspirant stands a solid chance to receive a call.
There are other factors that are important as well which are bound to be considered. These are as follows.
Not the quantity of work you have done, but the quality you have provided to your work experience would matter a lot.
Your CAT percentile should be decent enough to be considered. They also consider past academics and extracurricular activities.
Hope this helps.
Decision Science is an intense field of Mathematics. Having said that, you really need to work extensively upon your Statistics & Operational Research as this would be a crucial part of your doctoral research ahead in the upcoming years.
A friend of mine had given an interview for Decision Science. And to his experience, all his interviewer cared about is his knowledge in Mathematics and his research aptitude. The interviewer didn’t care much about prior work experience.
It’s true that relevant work experience makes your resume look good but it is not a benchmark for selection.
So, relevant work experience can add value to your resume. But it won’t hurt you either if you don’t have any work experience, as long as your academic records are good.
It is quite apparent that if you haven’t met people who actually studied in either of these institutions. That’s why this answer is based on my graduation batchmates who successfully managed to secure a seat at IIM Ahmedabad.
Comparing the two IIM Calcutta and Ahmedabad, both the institutions have a big alumni network and claim to be at par. However, that doesn't mean that both are identical or similar because the internal factors matter a lot.
Here are some insights about these IIMs you must have a look at before deciding.
Although both IIM Calcutta and Ahmedabad would have the same curriculum being IIMs, you will see slight modifications in the course structure for both.
You will also notice a huge difference in batch profile which changes each year with the new admission.
In terms of placements, you might find a few recruiters who don’t visit all three institutions, but luckily, most reputed and top-notch firms are likely to visit all of them.
However, you can see a difference in the sectoral distribution of placements.
But the right CV and preparation will help you land your dream job no matter which IIM you choose.
As my friends complete their MBA at IIMA, their amazing learning experience and successful job profiles create an inclination towards IIM Ahmedabad.
Although all three of them are some of the best B–schools in India.
However, in your case, if you want to wait for IIM Bangalore's waitlist to proceed, do check the past years’ records. Check if the waitlists of the past few years have created a huge difference for the waiting candidates. If not, go for any of IIM Calcutta or Ahmedabad without giving a second thought.
Your chances of getting a call from IIM Bangalore are only if you belong to the top 10 CAT toppers with a 100% percentile.
Selection criteria are irrespective of anything including the work experience you mentioned in your question. The only chance you might get a call is if some of the toppers have a very bad academic record. In this way, the next candidates in line might get the golden opportunity, which is rare.
To be honest, your graduation score might make it quite difficult to get a call from IIM B, but you can expect a miracle if you have scored a 100 percentile or a minimum of 99.5 + percentile in CAT. Only after getting such exceptional scores, your 2 years of work experience might give an advantage as IIM Bangalore gives preference to the experienced candidates along with the percentile mentioned.
