Master of Science [M.Sc] (Business and Management - International Business)
The Master Programme in Business and Management - International Business is characterised by innovative thinking and progress where the teaching reflects the cutting edge research carried out at the Department of Business Studies at Uppsala University. This is a two-year programme with the opportunity to finish your studies after the first year.
For those of you that choose International Business as your specialisation, you will go in-depth and study what it means to operate in and manage businesses in international markets. You will study, among other things, issues relating to the internationalisation of firms, the governance, strategy, and international human resource management of companies in international markets. A special focus is given to the multinational company. The specialisation aims to educate analytically skilled employees with a special ability to understand and manage the company's international operations.
- First year
During the first year you will take courses that are common for all participants in the Master Programme in Business and Management, as well as courses that are specific to the specialisation in International Business.
- Second year
During the third semester, you have the opportunity to undertake an internship at a commercial company or an organisation. If you choose to take elective courses instead, there is the opportunity of a single term international exchange to study at one of our partner universities around the world. You also have the option to choose elective courses at Uppsala University. In the fourth and last semester, you will write a 30 credit Master's thesis where you will go more in-depth within a particular area of the specialisation International Business.
Today, internationalisation characterises our society and our companies to a very high extent. Based on current research on companies' international operations and practical application, the specialisation aims at providing knowledge and skills to carry out analytical work with qualified tasks in leadership positions, e.g. as a manager or business analyst in international companies, both in Sweden and abroad. This specialisation is therefore particularly suitable for students planning a career in international business. The programme also provides a good basis for further research studies.
