JIPMER Admissions 2023, offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses viz. MBBS, MD/MS and B.Sc/M.Sc programs along with several diploma and certificate courses. The Institute also offers DM/M.Ch/Fellowship at the super-speciality level and a PhD at the research level. For the academic year 2023, the JIPMER entrance exam is replaced with the NEET exam conducted by NTA followed by counselling. 

  • For MBBS, one must have passed 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology. 
  • MBBS Admission will be based on the NEET exam.
  • For MD/MS courses, the candidates must possess an MBBS or an equivalent degree recognized by the Medical Council of India.

JIPMER PG Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for JIPMER MD and MS are as follows:

  • MD/MS: Candidates must have a qualified MBBS Degree / BDS (Dental) or another degree from any recognized University.
  • M.Sc. (Nursing) - Candidates should have passed the BSc Nursing from any recognized institute or university.
  • Medical biochemistry/ MLT microbiology: B.Sc in medical laboratory technology
  • MLT-Pathology/Medical Physiology:  B.Sc Degree in Zoology. 
  • MPH: Candidate must have qualified MBBS Degree / Medical courses / other courses from any recognized University with 50% scores.
  • Candidate must have completed 12 months of internship.
  • Candidate must have obtained at least 55% marks in aggregate for all categories including OBC/EWS (50% marks for SC/ST).

JIPMER PhD Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the JIPMER PhD degree must possess any one of the following qualifications:

  • Non-Medical Qualification: Master's degree (2 or 3-year programme) in the subject area approved by the UGC or an equivalent.

Admission:

Anyone who qualifies through NEET UG and has a good enough rank is eligible for admission and has to apply for counseling and be selected. All details regarding the process are available on JIPMER's website and are also made available through a prospectus. Reservation benefits are available based on caste, location, and disability. The admission process is usually held offline and may be moved online for ease of access for students across the country. Previously, the JIPMER UG exam used to be held which has been replaced by Neet UG now. The cut-off changes each year based on the preferences of the top candidates who qualify for the exam.
