What students say about National Institute of Technology - [NIT]

Likes

  • I chose these courses because I am interested in civil engineering, and the national institute is the best for any engineering field, so I chose these courses.
  • Tata is also there. Stipend ranges as per the company, but the highest was around 1 lakh in Microsoft. I havent done any internship till now, but from seniors, I have known that they had a very nice experience doing the internships.
  • The placement is the best among all NITs. Here, this year, the maximum placement offered till now is 24 lakhs, and the job opportunities are very good.
  • I dont know the scholarships offered by the college, but yeah, the government is giving very good scholarships.
  • I have not yet been to the campus, but I have heard so much from the seniors.
  • The hostel facilities are the best here. We used to get food from a five-star hotel, and the rooms are good.
  • While searching for a college for engineering, I felt that NIT would be the best choice for me as it is known for its B.Tech program and is very popular in the field of engineering.

Dislike

  • I think there should be a separate curriculum for M.Sc students because we have to study the same subjects as B.Tech students, which are not useful for us and do not help us in any aspects.
  • The internship facility at NIT Rourkela is very poor and not satisfactory when compared to its NIRF ranking.
  • In almost all cases, (100 in some cases), almost all of the students got placements this year. The past is equally good.
  • Also, there are fee reductions for financially poor students. Additionally, you can obtain an education loan from the college.
  • The sports facility is poor; there are only grounds and courts for sports. There is no coach available, except for a swimming coach. Therefore, nobody in college dies.
  • The hostel food was not good at all. I tried eating from outside, but the hostel rooms were good and well furnished with all facilities. The only thing I hated was the hostel food, which had the worst quality.
  • All positive remarks are there, but there are a few negative remarks for the behavior of the official staff in this institute. Not all, but a few behave very rudely, and in a few hostel messes, the staff also show a lot of attitude.

Placement Experience:

The placement of our campus is good. Delloite, Berger Paints, Tech Mahindra, SBI, etc. are coming to campus for our placements. The average placement package is 8 lakhs PA and the highest package is 12 lakh p.a. After completing the MBA degree I will be doing in the field of HR or Marketing.

Remarks:

The admission process was very fair. I gave MAT entrance exam. The student who scores 60% or above is eligible. They can give entrance exams like CAT, MAT, XAT, and CMAT. You can find all the details on the NIT website. 60% or 6.5 CGPA for General Students. 6.0 CGPA or 55% in the case of SC/ ST. From my side the admission process was good.

Placement Experience:

Placement in this college is very good. Once you get into the pre-final year you become eligible for the placements. There is a placement cell that calls HRs of different companies for placements. Companies like Microsoft, Byjus, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, Deloitte, Capgemini, and Amul. Accenture, has different government employers as well. For MBA the highest package is 12lac pa, the least is lac pa and the average is 10 lac pa.

Remarks:

I had appeared for the CMAT exam. Within a month I got my result and I had scored 89 percentile. Then onwards I kept on searching for different colleges for MBA programs. I visited NIT Rourkela's official site and I applied for the course. then after the ending date, I got a mail about being shortlisted for the GD/PI round. The date and time were provided in the email about the interview. I appeared for the GD along with other students then it was time for a personal interview. It hardly took 15 mins. Then after 15 days or so the results were announced and got the mail for selection.
