Eligibility Criteria

Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) is situated in the city of Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. The University was inaugurated in 1986 by the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Nandamuri Tadaka Rama Rao who was also the first Chancellor of the University. 

The University offers courses in Medical Sciences courses such as Nursing, Medicine, Surgery, etc. Candidates must have completed the class 12 board examination from a recognized board.

The candidates must appear for the NEET examination, for admission into the Bachelors of Unani Medicine and Surgery(BUMS) course. Also, candidates need to have a valid score in the NEET examination.

NTRUHS BUMS Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with an aggregate of 50% from a recognized board.
  • Candidates must have qualified NEET and must have scored as per the needed cutoff for admission into the course.
  • For BUMS, candidates must have studied Urdu/Arabic/Persian language in class 10 or must have passed these languages’ examination of class 10 standard.

NTRUHS BUMS Course Details

BUMS stands for Bachelors in Unani Medicine and Surgery. It is a 4.5-year undergraduate course specialized for candidates interested in Unani Medicine. The course study includes a One-year internship program making the entire course duration 5.5 years.

Apart from training in the course, many workshops are organized for the students of the Institute to ensure proper clinical training and imparting medical education to the candidates. The candidates must meet the required credit scores and percentage for sitting in the terminal examination of the BUMS course. Along with it, candidates are giving the full opportunity to learn and do practice in their respective fields.

NTRUHS BUMS Placements

Being a Medical Institute, there are no such placement opportunities provided by the NTRUHS for the students. However, candidates are given an internship as well as training opportunity after the final year exams at the various district or government hospitals in the area. 

After completion of the respective course, candidates are entitled to a one-year internship program at Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences. 

Candidates gain experience by treating and seeing real-time patients which helps them in a long run for the future perspective. Usually, after completing the internship periods, candidates prepare for a higher studies entrance examination or go for practice in the field.

NTRUHS BUMS Scholarship

Ques. Is NEET compulsory for admission into the BUMS course?

Ans. NEET is compulsory for admission into the BUMS course. Along with it, candidates must have attained 50% aggregate in the class 12 examination and 40% marks must be scored by students belonging to the reserved category.

Ques. Is the application form/web counseling form filled offline or online?

Ans. The application form for the NTRUHS BUMS course is filled via online mode on the official website. No application form is accepted in the offline mode.

Ques. Are overseas candidates or candidates of Indian origin eligible for admission into the course?

Ans. Overseas candidates and candidates of Indian Origin are equally eligible for admission into the BUMS course in Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada.

Ques. How is the reservation policy followed for admission into the BUMS course?

Ans. There are mainly two quotas, under which reservation of seats is done. First, being the 85% seat quota for the domicile of Andhra Pradesh which includes both local and non-; local candidates of the state. The other being the 15% All India Quota under which candidates from other states are equally eligible for admission. Further, under this quota, the reservation policy is followed as per the central and state government norm in this context.
