Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University is a state university located at Tirupati, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, India. It was established in 2005 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and focuses on veterinary studies.

Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University offers various Undergraduate (UG) programs like B.Sc, B.V.Sc and B.Tech and Postgraduate (PG) programs such as M.Tech, MS, M.Sc and M.V.Sc along with Ph. D programs in different branches of Veterinary, Dairy and Fishery Sciences, to promote farmer oriented and need based research to develop harvest and post harvest technologies.

Selection in all the bachelors’ courses will be done on the basis of an entrance examination of Andhra Pradesh called EAMCET. The admission to M.F.Sc. and M.Tech will depend on the marks in B.F.Sc/B.Tech(Dairy) which will be 30% of the total weightage and on performance in PG Entrance test which will be 70% of the total weightage. 

The Ph.D. selection will be done on the basis of marks in the entrance exam, master’s degree, bachelor’s degree and interview in the ratio 50:20:10:20.

SVVU Admissions

  • Admission to B.Tech, B.Sc. (Hons.), B.V.Sc. and B.Tech. programmes is done through a state level entrance test known as AP-EAMCET. 
  • Admission to the postgraduate courses is done through a comprehensive Entrance test followed by a counselling round conducted by the university.
  • Candidates who are eligible for the Ph.D. program, need to sit for an entrance test conducted by the University and the final merit list will be prepared considering the marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance test as well as the previous qualifying examination.

SVVU Scholarships

  • The State Government provided a scholarship of 962/- per month to the BC and 1200/- per month to the SC & ST students besides reimbursing tuition and special fee to all eligible students including economically backward and minority students.
  • In all, 403 students availed scholarships to a tune of 38.7 lakhs during the year.
  • National Talent Scholarship of 1000/- per month provided by ICAR, New Delhi was sanctioned to 42 students of other state students admitted under all India quota of VCI/ICAR and the amount sanctioned was 4.20 lakhs.

SVVU Facilities

Hostel: The University has separate hostels for boys & girls. Both the hostels have their own separate canteen facility. Facilities in the hostels were improved by establishing modern kitchen with steam cooking facility and by providing dining tables, chairs, utensils etc., for the mess. Cots, ceiling fans, and tables were provided in the rooms. Accommodation was provided to the parents, friends and visiting teachers.

Auditorium: SVVU has huge auditorium, which is used for any conference, events, convocation, any special functions etc.

Computer center and Placement cell: Each college has a computer center to provide internet and other services to the staff and students. At CVSc, Tirupati 26 computers are available with internet facility. At CVSc, Proddatur the library has 21 terminals with a server for providing a digital library. At NTR CVSc, Gannavaram there are 32 terminals with internet connectivity.

Library: The libraries in the constituent colleges of the university have a good collection of about 25,000 books, 70 National Journals, 54 International Journals, 138 Periodicals and Monthly Journals, 9,074 back volumes, 1851 Thesis of which 610 have digitalized and 238 video lessons. 

  • In addition, facilities such as internet access, CD-ROM search services (Database services), reprography services, literature search using EBSCOHOST and Science Direct are available. Web OPAC Data Entry, Bar Coding, Labeling, Closed Circuit TV Cameras, Air Conditioners, Automation and Solar Inverters etc., are available in the Libraries. About 80 to 90% of library functions like purchase, lending etc., have been computerized.

FAQs

Ques. What is the reservation for Ph.D. at SVVU?

Ans. The maximum age limit for an aspirant to enrol in a Ph.D. program is 50 years as on July 1.Out of the total seats, 85% of the seats will be reserved for AP applicants and 15% seats will be open for both AP and Telangana applicants given that the latter category candidates appear for an entrance test.1/3rd of the total seats shall be reserved for women. If there won’t be any female candidate they they seats will be given to male candidates.

Ques. Does SVVU provide scholarships?

Ans. Yes, the scholarships are provided directly by the Govt. of Andhra to the students, where they pay all their academic fees. As well as, they also bare some daily expenses of the needy students.

Ques. What is the eligibility for AP-EAMCET?

Ans. The general eligibility criteria for applicants to appear in AP EAMCET are:
  • Indian Nationals/PIO (Persons of Indian Origin)/OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) Card Holders are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must have completed 16 & 17 years of age as on December 31.
  • Students belonging to Andhra Pradesh/Telangana must have a domicile certificate.
  • Applicants also need to meet the local/non-local status requirements as laid down in the Andhra Pradesh Education Institutions (Regulations of Admission) order, 1974.
  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board /University with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and/or Botany and Zoology as compulsory subjects.
  • Applicants who are appearing for the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
