Ques. Will I get admission to the IIT in Mandi or Guwahati if I scored a mark of 250 in the JEE Advanced?

● Top Answer By Zakia Parween on 09 Jul 21

Ans. There is a fair chance that you will get admission at IIT Mandi and IIT Guwahati with 259 marks in JEE Advanced. But it also depends on the rank you scored in JEE Advanced as one can't predict your rank and whether you get your desired branch or not. But, and if you could have scored 250 in that paper, you could have been easily under the top 500. So it’s all relative to paper and going by the trends of the last few years, a score of 250 will be enough to get a decent branch at these two institutes. You should go through the official website of the institute to get an idea about the required cutoff.Read more

Ques. Which one should I join: the NIT Surathkal's M.Tech in CSE or the IIT Guwahati's M.Tech in theoretical computer science?

● Top Answer By Sandip Pal on 28 Jun 21

Ans. Getting a master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from one of the Indian Universities can feel like being stuck in a place forever. If you do not take IISc and the top IITs, no other University or college in India provides a good quality program for Master’s in Computer Science. NIT Surathkal is popular for its B.Tech in CSE but not for the Master’s program that the college has to offer. It would be advised for you to prefer IIT Guwahati any day since it has been ranked among the Top 8 IITs in the country. Several of the recent IITs have been created to serve the purposes of the states. These IITs are managed by one of the top 5 IITs in India. Most candidates would certainly choose IIT Guwahati over NIT Surathkal for an M.Tech program. Assuming you are studying M.Tech to learn, not to get a job then you should definitely prefer IIT Guwahati over NIT Surathkal. If you want a job, there are several more ways to do that. If you are skilled enough to get admission at IIT Guwahati then you can have a decent job in hand in the future. If you want to pursue a Master’s program and learn, you would be way ahead in IIT Guwahati than in NIT Surathkal.Read more

Ques. What is the average package and rate of placement of B.Des from IIT Bombay or IIT Guwahati and its scope in the future?

● Top Answer By Monika on 14 Jun 21

Ans. One of my friends studied at IIT Guwahati. According to him, choosing IIT Guwahati over IIT Bombay will be a better option. The demand for designers is increasing day by day. Companies today have a requirement for a great interface. Designers have a high scope in their future. Most of the students graduating from IIT Guwahati are inclined to a career in the field of Interaction Design. Companies like Microsoft, Uber, Flipkart, Sprinklr, Ola, etc. hire B.Des graduates for roles of UI or UX designers. Categories B.Des from IIT Bombay B.Des from IIT Guwahati Course Fee 8.33 lakh 8.63 lakh Placement Percentage - 80-95% Highest CTC 27.9 LPA 35 LPA Average CTC - 12-15 LPA Recruiting Companies 3M, Adobe, Cadbury, Barclays, etc. Flipkart, GE Healthcare, Mindtree, JP Morgan, etc. Finally, it depends on the marketing of their design, and why it stands out among similar designs. A designer needs to be creative and well updated with the ongoing trends and interests of the industry.Read more

Ques. Which is the best option, Mathematics, and Computing at IIT Guwahati, CSE at IIIT Hyderabad, or CSE at BITS Pilani?

● Top Answer By Admin on 04 May 21

Ans. CSE at IIIT Hyderabad is so far the best possible program one can aspire for in India in the software industry. It’s better than IIT-B CSE and hence, far better than BITS Pilani or IITG CSE.  IIIT Hyderabad IIIT Hyderabad has initiated a dedicated software inclined course structure right from the first year. It is a course highly inclined towards academics.  The institute completely focuses on preparing software experts called CODERS.  It has highly active coding clubs, excellent coding culture, and the highest average package among the above-mentioned colleges. However, it lacks a lot in the overall development due to the poor campus life. You have to leave your campus life behind if you are willing to be extremely academic. BITS Pilani It has a great course structure along with great campus life. You will be very happy with the coding culture over there.  The institute enjoys years of alumni outreach.  0% attendance can sometimes put forward a very lenient attitude of your and might even affect the coming phases of your life. IITG MnC This branch offers a BTech degree and has a course with 45-50% Maths, 45% CS and some finance courses.  The campus life in IITG is definitely amazing and the weather is pleasant. However, the coding culture is lacking as compared to the other two.  The location and young alumni network is a major factor you should consider. Considering all pointers mentioned above, it is clear that CSE at IIIT Hyderabad will be a best suited option for you.Read more

Ques. Which is better, ECE at IIIT Allahabad or Civil in IIT Guwahati (interested in coding)?

● Top Answer By Bhavya Rawal on 29 Apr 21

Ans. The electronics and Communication Engineering branch of engineering is not limited to coding but deals mostly in hardware than software. Likewise, core sector engineering also demands coding skills. You will require it while analyzing structures, thermal and flow modeling, vibration, etc. Following are some recommendations for you: Follow your passion. Choose the branch that you are passionate about. If rectifiers, diodes, microprocessors, amplifiers, microwave, power electronics, etc. excite you, go for electronics. If mechanics, structures where you can yourself make giant elements interest you, civil would be the right choice. Placements at IIIT will definitely be good but, an IIT will always be an IIT, both in the short as well as in the long run. As a civil student, you will get an opportunity to opt for a minor at IIT Guwahati. This gives you a chance to study electronics and communication along with civil. Even during the placements, you can sit for the top software companies or consulting or banking jobs. Hence, IIT Guwahati is a fair choice even considering the short term. After two to three years of job, most of the IIT graduates go for an MBA, MS, Civil Services, Engineering Service, or join as a faculty at some top coaching institutions. Wherever you go and whatever you do, the tag of an IITian will always remain with you and will definitely benefit you. This might be quite surprising but many talented people who at one point in their lives dreamt of starting their own company, becoming the next Elon Musk or Steve Jobs go the central government jobs. They end up joining civil services or engineering services or some other central government job. After a certain point in time in life, 99 percent of the youth are attracted by central government jobs.  To be honest, if you want to go for engineering services or similar central government gazetted level services, civil engineering would be the best choice. Since you are interested in coding, I am not sure of the work satisfaction that you will get working as an electric engineer for a core central government job.Read more
