I have two friends who are Electrical Engineering graduates from PEC and are currently working in a good IT company. One of them was also among the only two people who cracked directly written. Being from an electrical background, it can be tough to learn coding in your free time and also cope up with your syllabus and keep your grades high. But if you are persistent you can definitely do it. You might also need to study some CS/IT subjects like DBMS while learning to code. As many students of the institute suggest to secure a job in an IT company you have to take off-campus routes, as most of the top companies are not open for interviews for the Electrical branch at PEC Chandigarh. But yes, it is possible to land a job at an IT company even after completing ELE if you can learn to code properly and work hard enough to make yourself prepare for the job.

My brother is from PEC Chandigarh, so I might be able to share some facts with you. With the practical approach to teaching and the freedom to participate in extracurricular activities, PEC students have a lower academic load than NITH students. The final but most important factor is the ability (not to be confused with talent) that the students develop here being a part of a club or society. Above all, study hard to gain good core knowledge, use your nit tag, and try to land good off-campus placement offers. This will certainly change the atmosphere on campus and your colleges image in the eyes of industry. The change will come gradually with time.

How is it possible that Chandigarh University students are getting higher or equal packages to PEC or UIET despite having such a low cut-off when compared to PEC?

The package acquisition is not a college deed in the case of Chandigarh University. There are many factors that you need to consider whenever you want to compare placements in colleges. UIET/PEC: Both these are government colleges. UIET, being a new one is still rising and working. It has strict admission rules and academic procedures that follow AICTE’s rules. It has an average of 100-120 students in every branch. The number of students is a bit lower in branches like Meta or BioT. So, you will see around 600 students in a batch of 20xx. There’s no way anyone can get admission without clearing the counseling. There are no management seats and hence no pay to study. We should also note that UIET has no Home Quota. This makes the admission more open to deserving candidates. Almost 80% of the present batch doesn’t belong to Chandigarh or places around. CU or any other similar private college: It might sound lucrative but the reality is that they don’t have any seat matrix. You can even check on a verified website, ask students and do your own research. You will find that CU gives admission to N number of students where N is the number of students who can afford it. The year 2018-19 saw 2000 Engineering students getting admission but the batch of 2020 had 2600 students in CSE with just 60 students in Electrical. Placements: UIET/ PEC: There are almost 70-90% placements in different branches. These numbers are now going down very drastically not because of the companies which offer placements, but because many students don’t want placements. UIET has funded more than 8 startups out of the college in the past 4 years. PEC also has a significantly greater number of placements. 20+ elite companies and other 50+ local startups visit both these colleges, along with few mass recruiters. CU: Tough they claim huge campus placements, which is true, they have never displayed or claimed the people placed or even their exact placement statistics. CU holds 3-4 pool placements where anyone, even the ones outside the campus, can come for placements and if they get placed, they are said to be placed from CU. Moreover, the genuine placements are divided among engineering and MBA students. UIET doesn’t have MBA. CU hasn’t shared the average placement records either. They would probably be very low, seeing their records, maybe around 2-3L, but definitely not more than that. Now that you know all the facts, you must also know that a college hardly matters. What matters the most is what you wish to make of yourself. You can get a 20-40L package from CU/UIET/PEC if you want to work for it. You can even become an entrepreneur.

Punjab Engineering College popularly known as PEC is conducting its placement drive for the batch 2022 and around 450 students out of 650 students in the final year have received Job offers so far and the placement drive will continue till March 2022.

The institute has concluded its 2021 placement drive and 16 students of Electronics and Communication engineering have been offered the Highest CTC of INR 43 LPA. Last year 8 students were offered the highest CTC of INR 42 LPA.

The institute is also conducting summer internship placements drive of 2021 and there has been a 13% increase in the internship offers which stand at 134 and 32% increase in the Pre-Placement Offers, accounting to 132 PPOs.

Placement Experience:

PEC has one of the best placements in India, More than 90% of students get placed. The highest package was 80L. The internship interviews happen in 5th sem, With internships mandatory in the 6th sem. Placements interview in 7th sem. After my degree, I will join the company from which I got Pre PlacmentOffer.

Internships Opportunities:

A number of companies come here offering internships Including: Microsoft 1.25L, Salesforce 1L, Goldman Sachs 75k, JP Morgan Chase and Co 50K, Arcesium 15, There are multiple profiles being offered Including software development, Investment Banking, Testing, Operation Management, etc.

Great placements, Great life, but need some improvements

Placement Experience:

Placements in our college is good, they provide on-campus placements with a good average package In 6th semester the student has a chance to grab an internship which ranges upto 1 lakh also if we see this year's record And after that in 4th year they can get placed with decent packages The major companies visited were APPLE, GOOGLE, MICROSOFT, PHONE PE, J.P. MORGAN, GOLDMAN SACHS and many more No. Of PPOs, students got 149, and the highest stipend was 1.6 lakh offered by uber for an internship Above 40% of people preferred software followed by analytics(24%), core(17%), consulting(9%), and Finance(2%). Around 700 offers were there and the highest package grabbed by 5 students was of 83.5 lpa (4 CSE and 1 ECE) and the overall average was around 14 lakhs and above 70% of students were placed having 91% highest in CSE Major high packages were offered in software roles followed by other profiles After the degree, I wish to gain some experience from a job so I could start something new after that.

Internships Opportunities:

The internships offered here are great Starting with the highest stipend which was 1.6 lakh per month given to a CSE student by UBER followed by 1.5 lakhs per month given to an E.C.E student Many big companies like American Express, Microsoft, Atlassian, Deloitte, and J.P. Morgan offer roles related to software, risk management, finance, consulting, core etc The internship itself is a task of the 6th semester and it is of 6 months giving 12 credits to the student, those who don't take it make projects, and upskill themselves and there are 3 tasks for them to get their 12 credits of the course There were more than 70% of students in the CSE branch get internships and more than 50% in E.C.E and a good amount of students got accepted from other branches also Major roles were offered in the software department
