Ques. How is the hostel facility for girls at NIT Raipur?
The hostel facilities at NIT Raipur are pretty much good for the girls. There are three hostels allotted to the girls and the first hostel is, hostel E which is allotted to first and fourth-year girls. The facilities now provided are much better after renovation is done. Students are given proper mess facilities, an open area where they can walk around and spend some time, a parking area to park their vehicles. There is hostel G which is allotted to second and third-year girls. Now, this hostel is better in comparison to hostel E as this is large in area wise which can accommodate more students and large open area for the students where they can spend time and relax. This hostel also has a parking area to park their vehicles. The last hostel is the PG hostel. It is smaller in size than the other hostels and has smaller rooms. This hostel is generally allotted to students who are pursuing post-graduation. But the entry timing of the hostel is 8 PM so you have to enter the hostel on time. One of my friends is from this Institute, so I am quite aware of the situation. The hostel at the campus is basically available for only 30% of students and the rest of the students stay in a PG or private hostel or in nearby localities. Hostels seats are allocated on a first come first serve basis. My friend was a little late for the admissions, so she had no choice but to stay in a private hostel. The monthly rent for the room and the mess facility is approximately 5000. The total fee for 1 year is 55,000 for a private hostel. My friend belongs to an SC category, so even with the lower pointer, she was able to get a seat at Campus Hostel in the second year. The annual fee of the Campus Hostel is around 25,000, which should be paid in two installments (one in each semester). Admission procedure for girls hostel: Recently, there has been a major change in the admission procedure. Now there are no reserved seats for the SC/ST/OBC category students. The seats are allocated only on the basis of grades. This step was taken because few Girls filed a complaint that they are not getting campus hostel just because they belong to General Category. In time: Girls are not allowed to go out after 8 pm. Boys Hostel Admission procedure: For Boys the admission procedure is similar to girls, there is no reservation of seats. The answer is yes, as there are separate hostels for the 1st year. If you have taken admission to NIT Raipur, you have to accept the seat. You will also have to fill up a form for hostel accommodations. The seat numbers are limited in comparison to the student’s number. Due to this, the college administration provides seats and hostel allotments as per the students' rank. Seats are reserved for the students from state and reserve categories. Hostels A, B, C, D, and F have a dining hall and recreation hall, that is equipped with Television, and some indoor games like carrom and table tennis. Hostel H has a fully furnished dining and recreation hall with well-resourced indoor games and other facilities. However, all hostels are enough well-equipped with the necessities of the students. There are about 940 to 960 students per year that are given admission for B. Tech every year with 365 seats given to boys. As far as the hostel is concerned, at the boy’s hostel, 75% of seats are reserved for students from other states and 25% for students from the home state. Due to this, it is quite possible that not all students will end up securing a seat. It will depend on the score you achieve in JEE Mains. The rank will decide your seat. There are also special arrangements for students with physical disabilities. They all usually end up securing a seat. For first-year students, hostels A, B, D, and F have been allocated with a few guidelines in place. To apply you will have to fill up a hostel admission form and submit it to the hostel authority. With this, you will have to include self-attested copies of the admission letter, scorecards for JEE, and caste certificate. The final result is displayed on the hostel notice boards. When you begin your second year, the seats are allocated based on the CPI you score at the end of the second year. All the students at NIT Raipur do not get hostels as the institute provides a limited residential facility for boys and girls. There are only 5 boys and 3 girls hostels within the campus. Hostel allocation is based on branch wise merit list. There is a cut-off score in each branch according to the total number of students and the number of accommodations available in the hostel. There is a reservation system. Aside from the merit list, the hostel allocation practice is also based on the category of students i.e General, SC, ST, OBC. There are several factors considered by NIT Raipur before allotting permanent hostels to students. The points below give a brief overview of the conditions and processes of hostel allotment in the institute. During the initial days, every student can get a temporary hostel allotment. But, the selection of students for permanent hostel allotment is based on their score in the 11th and 12th classes. The admission process is generally short, which does not need much time. So, the institute will not provide accommodation to parents. In most cases, the institute does not provide any kind of accommodation during the admission process. So, own arrangements are required. At most, 40% of students get a permanent hostel. Though the figure is quite less, it is not a problem to stay as there are several private hostels/pgs available in Kota, which are located behind the campus.
