Ques. Is it possible to get a seat for PG at AIIMS Delhi in radiology for a doctor who got an MBBS degree from PGIMS Rohtak or another state medical college?

● Top Answer By Mousumi Chatterjee on 09 Nov 21

Ans. Yes it is possible. There are a lot of mediocre students who evolve with time and end up cracking IIT or AIIMS. AIIMS conducts an entrance exam every 6 months for entry into its MD, MS courses.  You can regularly visit the exam portal of AIIMS to check for all the details regarding exam pattern, eligibility, seat distribution, registration for the exam, and other details.  They also release exam notifications in newspapers. AIIMS generally reserves 50% of its PG seats for its internal candidates (those who have pursued their MBBS from AIIMS), which doesn't mean external candidates don't stand a chance. Since MD radiology at AIIMS, New Delhi is your target, you will require a rank in top 3-5 to secure a place in MD radiology. It might be the toughest exam but it is not impossible. Try dedicating more time preparing for this, which might give you positive results.Read more

Ques. How much does a Neurosurgeon earn in NIMHANS, AIIMS and JIPMER?

● Top Answer By Sakshi Gupta on 02 Nov 21

Ans. A Neurosurgeon earns quite well. If you join as an Assistant Professor, the salary will range from 1-1.2 lakh per month. Whereas a Professor gets around 1.94 lakh per month. When the 7th commission recommendations are implemented, there will be a considerable hike in the salary of about INR 10,000 to INR 20,000. Pay/ Allowance Professor Additional Professor Associate Professor Assistant Professor Grand Total INR 1,94,235 INR 1,68,785 INR 1,58,610 INR 1,20,660 Annual Figure INR 23,30,820 INR 20,25,420 INR 19,033,20 INR 14,47,920 These pay structures are applicable to everybody irrespective of his/her specialty. The average salary for a Consultant Neurosurgeon is INR 34,46,424 per year in India, which is 8% lower than the average NIMHANS salary of INR 37,54,023 per year for this job.Read more

Ques. If an MBBS graduate is having an option of choosing between AIIMS NIMHANS MCh neurosurgery 6yr course then which institute is the best to opt to? What is the advantage of one over the other?

● Top Answer By Sakshi Gupta on 19 Oct 21

Ans. This is a choice that can vary from individual to individual. It is each student’s unique preference of certain things like location, curriculum, alumni, crowd, etc. that influence their choices. One of my friends cleared both the entrance exams at the same time but opted for AIIMS over NIMHANS, due to its location. Being a North Indian he felt it would be easier to blend in rather than getting accustomed to a new culture, food or place. Also, he mentioned that the Neurosurgery course will only provide an McH degree and no MS degree. This was also another concern for him and why he in the end went for AIIMS. Therefore, you should think clearly and point out all the pros and cons of these institutions. Check which one is satisfying all your requirements and then go for it. Both AIIMS and NIMHANS are reputed institutions, graduating from any of them will prove to be great for your career. If you are North Indian go for AIIMS, if South Indian opt for NIMHANS.Read more

Ques. Which college is better for an MCh Neurosurgery AIIMS Delhi or NIMHANS?

● Top Answer By Sakshi Gupta on 19 Oct 21

Ans. This is very difficult to differentiate, as both of them are hugely notable for Neurosurgery. But like every other institution, they also have their fair share of pros and cons. Let me discuss some facts about both the institutes, analyzing which you can make your final decision. AIIMS has given many good Neurosurgeons. It has a high credibility value. It has got a dedicated trauma centre, cadaveric training and research facility, neurosurgical education and training school, and animal dissection lab. NIMHANS is a dedicated mental health and neurosciences institute.  It has got NBRC - Neuro-Biology Research Centre which provides proper infrastructure for research and technology advancement. There is no difference in the quality of work, patient management protocol, etc. at both institutes. The only thing bothering the students of AIIMS is the increase in faculty members. This divides the surgical work and less share comes on part of residents. NIMHANS has fewer faculty members as compared to AIIMS. You can also choose the college favoring your location. North Indians generally opt for AIIMS while South Indians will go for NIMHANS. Ultimately, it depends on the student’s choice, because both the institutions are equally good. But a university name does not matter, it might give you the first push but after that your training and your work will speak for themselves.Read more

Ques. How was your AIIMS Delhi freshers party 2021?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 13 Oct 21

Ans. Freshers' party is the best party you will ever witness at AIIMS Delhi. It has a lot of fun, and the entire day and night are full of energy. The program usually begins with everyone wearing formals and going in batches to watch videos of their time at AIIMS up to this point. One of my friends is presently studying at the institute. For his Fresher’s party, the institute organized dinner which was very delicious. Following that, there was a couple of dance in which the couples were chosen at random using chits. Other activities include a ramp walk and talent round. You will be surprised to see the hidden talents of your classmates.  In the end, a normal award ceremony will be there to announce Ms. and Mr. Freshers. Read more
