What students say about Indira Gandhi National Open University - [IGNOU]

Likes

  • The course curriculum was very good. There was a theory exam worth 100 marks, and they gave us assignments. Without submitting assignments, we cannot appear for exams.
  • In my knowledge, my seniors had a good experience with good placement packages from the university.
  • There were never any plans nor any counselors talking about the thing... everything we used to handle by ourselves!
  • If you are an irregular student and a working individual, then this University is the best choice for you.
  • About campus, its very good. It is clean with excellent infrastructure, canteen facilities, parks, and well-maintained roads. The campus is also safe due to the presence of guards, creating a peaceful environment without any protests.
  • Anyone can study at IGNOU regardless of their age, and the best part of the college is that it provides us with valuable knowledge.
  • The best thing about this college is that you can study from any part of India and give your examinations in any part of India.

Dislike

  • Our course curriculum and exam structure are not good; its the worst university. There are no rules and regulations. Nothing is good in this university, including the teachers and faculty.
  • I have solid 2 years of experience but unfortunately, it was not smooth enough. Life can be tough, and so was the internship.
  • Placement is not provided after completing the course from IGNOU Regional Centre Agartala. The quality is very poor and students have to personally provide their resumes to private companies or government organizations.
  • Fee is not the issue, but the poor time management. As for the job and scholarship, our teachers told us that there are none.
  • Regarding extracurricular activities, based on my experience, no kind of extracurricular activity was conducted by the college, except for lab performances, which were also poorly executed.
  • There is no bad thing, but one thing I have always seen is that the paper checked by IGNOU is very bad.

Ques. Does IGNOU have any importance? Is IGNOU good?

● Top Answer By Shikha Sehrawat on 12 Oct 22

It is advised that you do not consider whether the IGNOU certificate is valuable in terms of getting a job. However, the acquired knowledge and skills will be precious to you. Time management, submitting assignments on time, and sitting for exams at the end are all essential requirements. The institute's name serves only as an icebreaker at first; once hired, there is no turning back. Put that knowledge to use at work. Most importantly, it is a GOVERNMENT OF INDIA recognized certificate that is accepted almost everywhere in the world. So, if you want to work while studying or can't afford a regular course, IGNOU is far superior to good....Read more

Ques. Is the IGNOU a good option for distance learning?

● Top Answer By Aditi Bhardwaj on 21 Oct 22

Below mentioned are some of the positive aspects of IGNOU: When compared to other private universities such as Symbiosis Distance Learning, you pay nearly one-tenth the price to complete your degree or PG (except for an MBA, which is half the price). It's the government. University is recognized worldwide until the criteria state that only full-time courses are permitted. You get standard books that will not only impart good knowledge but will also help you clear competitive exams in simple and easy language, and they are available in both Hindi and English. Transfers are available in almost all states if you need to relocate during your academic career. There are several other benefits to joining this university and simply completing your tasks on time, such as assignments that are given only once a year and you have almost 6 months to complete them, and the answers are easy to find in your course books. Ques. Is an MBA from IGNOU a valued one or not?

● Top Answer By Pooja Agrawal on 13 Oct 22

Even an IIM degree may be worthless if you do not learn anything while pursuing it. Because you have not specified the nature of your use for an MBA degree, it is assumed that you are a working professional interested in gaining theoretical knowledge of management through an MBA from IGNOU. When we compare IGNOU to other distance learning universities such as SMU and Symbiosis, we can see that IGNOU stands out due to the well-structured course material and the importance of assignments. The faculty who are mentoring SOMS IGNOU (School of Management Studies) is top-tier professors from IIMs and IIFT, as well as senior government officials.  However, expecting an MBA to be equivalent to a regular MBA degree to get a job is unrealistic. Most MBA programs in India are extremely rigorous and intensive. This is because a future manager is expected to perform under pressure, and a management student is subjected to that pressure from day one of his MBA program. As a result of regular case study discussions and extensive knowledge sharing in peer groups, a regular MBA is considered to be far more valuable than a distance MBA. However, a regular MBA requires a significant time and financial investment.  So, if you are already in a well-established job and want to advance to a management position or simply learn more about the theoretical aspects of management, an MBA from IGNOU will undoubtedly help you serve the purpose with minimal investment of both time and money....Read more

Ques. What is your review of Indira Gandhi National Open University IGNOU?

● Top Answer By Prateeksha Garg on 13 Oct 22

In IGNOU, none of the faculty members at your regional center or study center will assist you in answering your questions. You must assume everything on your own and act accordingly. If you have any questions about your assignment submission or lab courses, your study center will simply tell you to contact the regional center. And in the regional center, no one will answer the phone, and no one will respond to your emails. If you accidentally sent your document or something to the wrong center, they will notify you after the form submission deadline and tell you that there is nothing you can do and that you must submit the form again in the upcoming semester. Rude teachers will respond to your inquiries. You may feel as if you are studying without paying fees, and the teachers are unconcerned about your problems. They are simply teachers by designation; they have no idea what to do or how to assist students with assignments/labs, etc.  Students are pursuing distance education because they are unable to attend college daily due to their jobs. However, they expect them to travel to a regional center that is not in the same city every month to have our basic questions answered. In terms of projects, they may say in viva that the report should look like this. When you submit the report as instructed the next time, another superintendent will be present to reject it and instruct you to format it as before....Read more

Ques. How good is IGNOU?

● Top Answer By Harshita Poona on 13 Oct 22

To be honest, IGNOU is an undesirable university in India. Don't believe those who claim that "it's the best open university" and other such nonsense. They don't give a damn about you, your future, or your time. When you go to the regional center, they tell you to go to the IGNOU headquarters. And the office of concern in the headquarter of Ignou will tell you to go to the post office, and the post office will tell you to bring the dispatch number from the headquarters of IGNOU, and they will tell you that the regional center will provide the dispatch number of the book but it would not get into your hands even at the end.  IGNOU is the worst open university; they value the number of students over the quality of education. They do nothing to help students, and IGNOU is just a big scam run by undeserving people and goons. It is strongly advised to avoid IGNOU. AMU and Jamia are far superior for open studies....Read more

Ques. How good is IGNOU for MA courses?

It is guaranteed that the study material provided by IGNOU is excellent. You'll have a great time going through them. It will undoubtedly provide you with a thorough understanding of the subject. However, it is not without difficulty. You get to work hard. If you want to study Economics via distance education, IGNOU is your best bet.  However, pursuing it at a regular university in a face-to-face mode may be preferable because teachers can assist you with your difficulties. However, if you are already employed, MA in Economics from IGNOU is an excellent choice....Read more

Ques. How is the English MA course in IGNOU University?

● Top Answer By Padmini Alina on 20 Oct 22

It is extremely convenient to pursue an M.A. in English through IGNOU. The only problem is that the course materials are delivered very late. However, you are not required to rely on or wait for the materials. Because the materials remain the same year after year, they can be obtained from anyone who has already completed the course or from used bookstores. To be honest, the material isn't much help. In fact, guidebooks are more beneficial because they also provide you with the previous year's question papers, which are extremely helpful in understanding the exam question pattern, and once understood, you are guaranteed to score above 55% on your first attempt. You have five years to complete your course, which consists of eight credits, four in the first year and four in the second. It is mandatory to submit the assignment for the paper you wish to sit for during the exams, which are held twice a year. It is entirely up to you whether to take all exams at once or spread them out over all ten semesters. In short, if you are determined, you can complete your master's degree in two years by taking two papers each semester. Contact classes are scheduled; if possible, attend them as they will get you started on your preparation and keep you motivated.  Doing some research for your assignment and attempting to keep your answer original rather than copying from the guide will increase your chances of getting good grades on the assignments. If you fail a paper in the semester exam, you have the option of retaking it in subsequent semesters until you achieve a passing mark. So, get the reference books, analyze the question pattern, turn in your assignment, and begin studying for the exam....Read more

Ques. How tough is MA in economics IGNOU?

● Top Answer By Jyothsna Grover on 20 Oct 22

It is advised to look for a regular university for a Master in Economics, such as DSE or JNU. If you don't have any other options, take admission here. There is nothing difficult for economics students to achieve good grades in MA Economics. The exams are mostly graduation-based, but you must be certain that you understand everything you were taught during your graduation. You must not overlook any important terms, theories, concepts, or anything else. If you are taking the MA economics exam for the first time at IGNOU, read everything you learned in graduation as well as the materials provided by IGNOU....Read more

Ques. Is doing B.Com from IGNOU a good idea?

● Top Answer By Sidhharth Jain on 21 Oct 22

It's not a bad idea if you are thoughtful enough to do this course without being admitted to a regular university.  If you rely entirely on the staff and have blind faith that they will assist you with all of your questions, you may have difficulty sorting it all out on your own. It's a university where you have to apply and do everything on your own. This is what distinguishes and challenges IGNOU. If you decide to apply for B.Com at IGNOU, read the prospectus carefully and keep it with you. The prospectus will provide you with all of the information you require....Read more

Ques. How is BBA from IGNOU?

● Top Answer By Rishabh Malhotra on 03 Nov 22

Everything in life has advantages and disadvantages. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of BBA from IGNOU: Pros: IGNOU offers a BBA with a Specialization in Retailing (rather than a general BBA), which broadens your opportunities in the retail sector beyond sales and marketing. Every year, you receive a certificate. As a result, you can begin working immediately after finishing your 12th grade and continue to advance each year. You don't have to wait three years for a degree before you can get a job. You can study while working. Every year, you are given a project that allows you to gain real-world experience in the retail industry and complete it in retail organisations. Retail Associations of India is collaborating with IGNOU-BBA. You will receive the best curriculum for it. The course is written in simple language that is easy to understand, and it includes the best knowledge in the retail specialisation. The cost of this course is the lowest of any university that offers distance education for BBA.   Cons: There is no Math or Statistics subject in the entire BBA course from IGNOU, so it is entirely theoretical. Unfortunately, some prestigious MBA programmes look for a Math subject in the course of graduation when accepting applications. However, there will be many colleges that will accept your degree. Similarly, some government jobs require a Math subject as part of your bachelor's degree programme. However, there will be plenty of opportunities for you in the government. as well as the private sector for employment You can still apply for exams such as Bank PO, SSC, and UPSC. The same exposure found in regular BBA will never be found in distance BBA. The reason for this is that you will not learn how to give presentations in front of an audience, which is essential if you are studying BBA. This course is not offered in every city. So, before enrolling in IGNOU's BBA programme, you should contact the IGNOU regional centre in your city. Because this course is taken by a small number of students, it is only available in a few cities. However, when comparing distance universities for the course of BBA, it is recommended that IGNOU is the best because of its lower cost, reputation, and educational standard....Read more
