- Candidates must have a valid bachelors degree with a minimum of 3-year duration in any discipline. Candidates must have studied mathematics in 10+2 as a compulsory requirement

Entrance Exam
NIMCET (NIT MCA Common entrance test) is an annually conducted entrance exam for candidates seeking admission in the MCA program of different NIT colleges. It was started in 2007 to make the admission process of MCA more efficient and systematic. Like IIT JEE, it is also conducted voluntarily by different NITs every year. It is a computer-based test (CBT).
It is a two-hour 120 question CBT exam in which the maximum obtainable marks are 480. Mathematics consists of 200 marks making it the highest contributing subject. There are 4 marks awarded for correct answers and 1 mark deducted for the wrong answer.

NIT Jamshedpur MCA Course Details
The three-year MCA course is structured to provide students with equal knowledge of Subjects as well as Industry.
The detailed highlights of the MCA program at NIT Jamshedpur are listed below:
- The total credits for the course are 140.
- The first 5 semesters consists of 24 credits and the last semester consists of 20 credits
- Students study conventional field related subjects for the first 5 semesters and the 6th semester is designed in a way that students are sent to research/business organizations for their project work/thesis work.
- Attendance Is a mandatory criterion to fulfil in the first 5 semesters. The 6th semester focuses on exposure hence attendance is not a mandatory criterion. Students just have to be above the minimum threshold.
- Each semester is of 6 months making the course 3 years long. The end semesters exam is the evaluation criteria for the academic performance of the candidate through the semester. The internal and mid-semester exams are conducted to fulfil the internal marks criteria and test regularity of the student during the academic session of the semester.
