IIM Bangalore PI & WAT: Tips for Preparation

    IIM Bangalore WAT Tips:

    • Content: Think of the information that you already have on the basis of the identification of the keywords in the topic provided. Try to develop those ideas or views on the basis of this information.
    • Organize and develop your ideas: Try to organise your ideas on the basis of questions such as, the theme of the essay, how to start, continue and end the essay. Develop these ideas by thinking about pieces of information, explanation, and examples that would support the theme, and the purpose of the essay while grabbing the reader’s attention.
    • Stay focused: Many candidates find it hard to focus on the central idea or theme of the essay and turn it into an autobiography. Try to stay focussed and stick to the central theme of the essay by writing down all the points beforehand and using the ones that are relevant.
    • Express: The essay should start with an introduction using information of general nature and provide some background to the topic. Each idea should be put in different paragraphs and the sequence of these paragraphs should lead to the conclusion.
    • Avoid using Jargons: While writing your essay, you should keep in mind the fact that you’re writing to someone who may not be very familiar with the Jargons that you use and find it difficult to comprehend the meaning of the same. Try to use a language that is more understandable if you’re a working professional and in case of a fresher, try using a language that is common.
    • Review: Go through your essay once you’re done writing it and see if any area requires any sort of improvement and do as required.

    IIM Bangalore PI Tips:

    • General awareness: Most of the IIMs tend to ask general knowledge questions so you must be aware of current affairs and technology disruptions. Reading the newspaper daily is one of the ways by which you can stay up to date and prepare. This will also be beneficial for the WAT and GD rounds too. Try to make short notes of the topics which you’re reading and form opinions about the same instead of merely reading it.
    • Prepare Well: You should prepare yourself well before the actual interview. Prepare your answers well and try to give mock interviews and analyse them on the basis of the feedback that you receive.
    • Know Yourself: You should be well aware of your strengths, weaknesses, hobbies, biggest achievement, failures etc. The interviewer is trying to know you and how can you tell him about yourself if you don’t even know who you are. Also, you should be very clear about why you want to do an MBA as the interviewer might ask you that. Have a thorough knowledge of whatever you’ve mentioned in your resume. Check IIM Personal Interview Questions And Answers
    • Avoid stretching: You should never stretch your answers and try to be on-point. Answer what is asked and stop beating around the bush. Always keep your answers crisp and concise. Don’t go on speaking anything and everything that comes into your mind for the sake of speaking.
    • Be polite: You should be polite while answering the interviewer. Try to smile and keep your composure. If the interview asks you if you’re nervous, try to be humble and tell the truth.
