Ques. I am choosing MDI, Gurgaon over IIM Kozhikode. Is it a good decision?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 21 Sept 21

Ans. MDI Gurgaon is better than IIM Kozhikode considering the facts and figures of both the institutions. Also, it is better in many other aspects as well such as faculty experience and exposure, location advantage, industry connection, number of offers per student. MDI also maintained a great placement record. Last year the average CTC offered at the institute was 23 LPA. While the highest CTC was 44 LPA.  After IIM A, B, C, and L, MDI Gurgaon is the best to go for.Read more

Ques. What would be better for an above average student interested in finance, IIM Kozhikode or SP Jain?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 21 Sept 21

Ans. If you are not obsessed with having an IIM tag, I suggest you go for SPJAIN over IIMK. Here are the reasons why.  Brand value: SPJAIN has been performing exceptionally well in the past few years. In the coming years, the brand value is surely going to rise. Location: Location plays a pivotal role during placements and SP Jain is located in Mumbai, which is the hub of all finance jobs in India. SP Jain also has a great placement record. According to the 2021 placement report, the average CTC offered at the institute was 26 LPA.  However, I am pretty sure you will perform well in whichever college you choose. A branded college provides you with a good platform in the industry but then, it is only in the initial years. Later, it all depends on you and your long-term goals, desires, and aspirations.Read more

Ques. Which one should I choose between IIM Kozhikode or IIT Bombay SJMSOM? Why?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 21 Sept 21

Ans. My brother is an alumnus at IIM Kozhikode. A few years back, he was in the same dilemma that you are right now. Keeping in mind the brand value and the long-term return, he opted for it.  In the last few years, SJMSOM is performing well. Apart from the brand value that IIM Kozhikode adds, there are many other advantages of graduating from here. If you pursue your MBA from SJMSOM, you will be introducing yourself as an MBA grad from IIT Bombay.  Even though IIT B has a management branch, it is primarily a B.Tech college. Hence, the faculties and college life mostly depend on the engineering curriculum. The faculties of IIM Kozhikode have better industry knowledge. The visiting faculties are among the best in the industry. Even though in term short, both are at par; the tag of an IIM will give you long-term benefit. IIM Kozhikode also has a good placement record. In the 2021 placements, the average CTC offered at the institute was 22 LPA.  Additionally, IIM K has the most beautiful campus among all the IIMs.Read more

Ques. Will the new liberal studies and management programme at IIM Kozhikode have good placement assurance?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 21 Sept 21

Ans. If you are interested in liberal studies, TISS is the best brand. It is unbeatable in this field. It offers diversified courses such as Rural Development, MSW Social Work, Development Studies, etc. The faculties are great and the student exchange program is so much better. IIM Kozhikode is a management college where 70% of the students are engineers. You will not benefit by pursuing liberal studies from here. It is suggested if you aim for TISS and prepare for the entrance exam which is the TISS-NET. In short, for liberal studies and humanities, TISS> IIM K.Read more

Ques. Can I become a professor after completing my MBA in Finance from IIM-Kozhikode? I can wait to have some work experience. In which colleges, can I have a chance of becoming a professor?

● Top Answer By Akhil Guska on 20 Sept 21

Ans. There are certain sets of procedures that need to be followed to become a professor in Finance or any other field. At first, you need to clear the entrance examination for Lectureship in the designated domain. After that, find the colleges that have vacancies to teach in that particular domain and get selected for teaching. Your best available option is to apply for a professor in the university where you have completed your post-graduation. If you were acquainted with the graduate committee, they can recommend you as an assistant professor. It would be better if you start working in the industry related to Financial services as a fresher and gain some work experience. And simultaneously, you can be a visiting lecturer in the colleges that offer MBA Programs.Read more
