    Course Curriculum Overview:

The majority of the faculties are quite ordinary teachers, who just enter the classroom, laser the pdf and go away. I study everything from YouTube. Even the exams are quite difficult. Only a few students can pass the exam by studying overnight.

    Course Curriculum Overview:

I can comment that sometime you don't choose, you're the chosen one. So by this i'm saying is that i had filled lot of colleges(IITs) and lot of branches, but due to some error while filling the counselling data i had put IIT Bombay chemical department before IIT Delhi Electrical, that was my mistake, but now i'm happy with my branch. No. of student per faculty advisor is 40. And all the faculty is foreign return and have done studies in extremely good foreign colleges like Washington, university of Virginia etc,

    Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is outdated as per global standards but within India, it is still among the best and most updated Though it does not hamper your learning as the basics are made clear, and the research faculty is doing is in very advanced stages, hence if students are genuinely interested, they can reach out to Professors and learn about the latest happenings all around the world in their field. The faculty-student ratio is also good at IIT Bombay at about 1:10. In some departments it may differ. Professors are among the best not only in India but in the world. You will find all types here, those who are into research, those who like teaching, and those who are a mix of both. The rule is simple if you want to learn something you'll get the best for it here, but you'll have to ask for it. Term exams are tough and the timeline is very strictly followed.

    Course Curriculum Overview:

As I have varied work experience my target was to pursue a course where I can diversify my knowledge base through experiential learning and gain expertise in a few domains. The teaching pedagogy followed here involves case studies, presentations, assignments, and group discussions which help us to look at a single problem from multiple perspectives. Student to teacher ratio at SJMSOM is ~2.8:1 considering all the faculties (core, adjunct, and visiting). There is a semester system and in each semester there are 2 terms. Each term has mid-term exams, assignments, projects, and end-term exams. Though the course is rigorous it is not difficult to pass. One can get enough free time to focus on other aspects apart from academics as well.

Ques. What was the toughest course you took at IIT Bombay?

    ● Top Answer By Advait Joshi on 18 Mar 23

There is a course called CS207 Discrete Structures taught by Professor Ajit Diwan . It was related to Discrete Mathematics - Number Theory, Graph Theory, Combinatorics, Sets, and Groups, and was one of the most difficult courses my friend came across. Professor Diwan is well known for his highly challenging problems and course material. During his lectures, he delivers a lot of information based on principles. For math lovers, his classes are an absolute delight. He refrains from conducting more than one exam a month. However, the level of difficulty of the exam is high. The questions look very complicated but when one ponders upon them, they don’t seem that difficult. The exams were extremely difficult to the extent that the passing cutoff was 7 out of 100 marks . Despite the entire batch consisting of JEE toppers, a lot of them were not able to make it to the cutoff....Read more

Admission to MTech students is given under 3 categories at IIT Bombay. TA (Teaching Assistantship) RA (Research Assistantship) Sponsored Candidates Teaching Assistantship The fees for the first semester is higher than that of other semesters. The estimate is around 50-60k and includes everything; tuition, hostel, and mess. The table below shows the IIT Bombay MTech fees structure (2022) for the first semester only  Total M.Tech Fee for General/EWS OBC Category Concessional Tuition Fee - 20,250 Per Semester Non- concessionalTuition Fee - Fee: Rs. 40,250 Per Semester Total M.Tech Fee for SC/ ST Category Rs. 15,250 Per Semester   Second and third-semester fees are comparatively lower but the final semester fees rise again mainly due to placement fees and convocation fees.  Hostel Fees: IIT Bombay hostel fee is INR 34,050 which includes Mess caution money, Hostel seat rent, Electricity & water charges, and Mess advance. Thus the total MTech fees remain anywhere between INR 180000 to INR 200000. If you think this fee is high then here is an important piece of information for you.  TA students get a stipend of around INR 12,400 every month i.e INR 74,400 per semester, which is much better than per semester fee. In 2 years, the student gets roughly INR 2,88,000. Research Assistantship: Fees for the RA category are different. The duration of MTech for RA students is 3 years and they also get a stipend. Sponsored category: The fees for these students are the highest and they do not get any stipend as they are sponsored by a company....Read more

Ques. What is the course structure for M.Tech CSE in IIT Bombay/Delhi/Kanpur?

    ● Top Answer By Pratik Gandhi on 20 Mar 23

MTech CSE in IIT Bombay, Delhi, and Kanpur comprises 4 semesters. The first and second are usually more hectic than the third and fourth mainly because 3 and 4 semesters just have practical work. Semester 1: This semester has the most theoretical course. A student usually has 5 subjects of theory with 1 or 2 practical subjects, Semester 2: The course curriculum is almost the same as that of semester 1 except that you can choose optional subjects depending on your interests. The 2nd semester is concluded with the viva of the entire theoretical course. In some branches, the viva takes place in the 3rd semester. Semester 3: Towards the end of the previous semester, you are required to choose your guide. You can make an informed decision after checking the Professor's research work and matching it with your inclinations. In the 3rd semester, the project work commenced and you are required to select a title your research work will be based on. This semester is less hectic in comparison to the previous semesters as there is no theory and all you have to do is focus on your project work. In fact, I have seen people engaging in extracurricular activities during this semester. Semester 4: This semester witnessed the placement seasons. Students are required to revise their theories and work on their respective projects. The questions asked by the panelists are usually related to your project work so it’s advisable to complete the project thesis....Read more

Ques. What are the best branches at IIT Kharagpur?

    ● Top Answer By Soumitra Bose on 23 Mar 23

Generally speaking, the best branches at IIT Kharagpur are considered to be CSE and ME. The choice of a branch depends on many factors and is mostly a matter of personal preference rather than the demand of the branch. Irrespective of the branch you join, IIT provides the following to any IIT student Infrastructure  Academic environment Course-structure Choice of subjects  Geniuses in the form of peers All these things that groom are given to an IITian irrespective of his branch and makes him worthy either of employment to any industry or a good candidate for higher studies in top foreign universities. This is mainly because of the IIT tag.  There are many instances where students from Agricultural & Food Engineering (the least demanded branch) were able to get admission to Robotics’ at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), or the MS program of the University of Rochester, New York to study Computational Linguistics. Ultimately it’s not your branch that determines your worth but  Your academic performance  Knowledge and skills gained through productive activities done by faculty and peers  Communication skills developed during your time at IIT. These are much more important and come before your branch preference....Read more

Ques. How is the operation research MSc and PhD dual degree in IIT Bombay?

    ● Top Answer By Advaith Bhaskar on 21 Mar 23

The course Operations Research offered at IIT Bombay is an integrated Ph.D. course. Duration: The course duration is 6 years, while the minimum is 5 years. It depends on how much time you take to complete your PhD. You can even extend it more than 6 years but won’t be receiving any stipend for the same. Another option is to opt out of an MSc degree after 3 years. Compensation: Students are paid around INR 6000/- month for 2 years and then INR 25000 from third year. Department: This course is offered by the IEOR( Industrial Engineering and Operations Research) department of IIT Bombay which is considered the best in India. Courses: The courses offered are Industrial Engineering related and some pure operations research related. There are a large number of project courses since this is a research-oriented course. After successfully completing the first 3 years you get admission to a Ph.D. program provided that you qualify certain prerequisites. Purpose of the course: The course targets students who are interested in research and stimulate them to pursue a career in Operations Research. Some students, however, instead sit for placements after the third year with an MSc degree and don’t go for Ph.D. Placements: There is no use to mention placement as most of the small batch size opts out of placements to pursue PhD. Suitability: The course is most suitable for those who are sure of kick-starting a career in research. You get to work on various projects under the guidance of great professors.  Selecting the best PhD advisor is very necessary to ensure a good career. The same professor then gives you a PhD in very less duration or even drags the time unnecessarily. The best part is that you don't need to clear any PhD entrance like UGC CSIR and can easily get a PhD admit with few formalities and end up with a doctorate degree in less than 6 years....Read more
