Remarks :

I can't give a 200 word justification for choosing IITB as it is pretty obvious.I live in Mumbai, I wanted to study at IITB as a result and based on my rank the best branch I could get was EE which closed at AIR 296.

Placement Experience :

MicrosoftGoldman SachsTexas instrumentsNvidiaYahooGoogleFlipkartAmazonImportant companies from CS and EE placement point of view.Almost everyone is placed. No alumni from my batch yet as I am still in college.

Remarks :

The best thing about IIT Bombay was the liberty and exposure it provided to the students. Right from academics and research to a plethora of extra curricular activities. It allowed you to pursue careers in fields one could not even think of before joining college. I have friends from college, who today are pursuing research as PhD students and at some very good core companies and at the same time some are among very good athletes & actors. Also, in spite of a gender ratio of 10:1, you can always find boys and girls working together towards common interests.

Placement Experience :

1st job from campus is more of a hit and trial. But yes 1-2 years down the lane and later, the alumni network definitely helps to allow you to go for better opportunities. Obviously you need to crack the interview and there is no leeway there but yes it can get you a chance.

Remarks :

Space is constraint. More multi storey hostels like 100 floors are needed. Also trees and wildlife need to be protected, lake needs to be protect. Over last 20 years, vegetation has considerably reduced lake land has been encroached. MTech dropouts are an issue, top gate rankers leave college after getting psu jobs leaving seat void. Current size of my batch is 50%, govt made law but it was reversed.

Remarks :

IITs are among the best institutes for engineering in India. They have a wide range of courses available, excellent professors and education. Good placements after the college is also one of the reasons for selecting IITs. IIT Bombay is considered to be the best of them, especially for Computer Science and Technology.

Ques. Which one should I choose between IIM Kozhikode or IIT Bombay SJMSOM? Why?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 21 Sept 21

Ans. My brother is an alumnus at IIM Kozhikode. A few years back, he was in the same dilemma that you are right now. Keeping in mind the brand value and the long-term return, he opted for it.  In the last few years, SJMSOM is performing well. Apart from the brand value that IIM Kozhikode adds, there are many other advantages of graduating from here. If you pursue your MBA from SJMSOM, you will be introducing yourself as an MBA grad from IIT Bombay.  Even though IIT B has a management branch, it is primarily a B.Tech college. Hence, the faculties and college life mostly depend on the engineering curriculum. The faculties of IIM Kozhikode have better industry knowledge. The visiting faculties are among the best in the industry. Even though in term short, both are at par; the tag of an IIM will give you long-term benefit. IIM Kozhikode also has a good placement record. In the 2021 placements, the average CTC offered at the institute was 22 LPA.  Additionally, IIM K has the most beautiful campus among all the IIMs.Read more

Ques. Which IIT should I choose: IIT Mumbai or IIT Ropar considering IIT Ropar has beaten IIT Mumbai in the top universities list but IIT Mumbai is much more famous than IIT Ropar?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 10 Sept 21

Ans. Apart from hard work and preparation, luck also has a big part to play in getting admission to your desired institute. If you are fortunate enough to be under the 100 rank, then you will have a good chance of getting into IIT Bombay. Some of my friends studied there, and these are some of the facts about IIT Bombay you should be aware of: It has recently received immense financial support for the enhancement of its structure. IIT Bombay is also allowed 25% of its teaching staff to consist of foreign faculty members. IIT Bombay offers courses pertaining to Biosciences, Civil, Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, etc.  IIT Bombay also has connections with foreign universities like Boston College, Charles Darwin University, etc. Categories IIT Mumbai IIT Ropar Course Fee 8.67 lakh 8.92 lakh Highest CTC 24 LPA 15 LPA Average CTC 17 LPA 10 LPA The placement drive of 2021 showed that 76.21% of students of IIT Bombay got placed. A total of 1261 offers were made to the students and 1150 students were placed. The top recruiters were Directi, Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Samsung Engineering, etc.Read more

Ques. Which is better: IITB SOM or IIM Indore for PGP?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 03 Sept 21

Ans. IIT Bombay can be a good choice for an MBA after colleges like SP Jain. The batch size is small with 110 students maximum. Following are some of the more reasons to choose IIT Bombay: IIT B has a great reputation with good companies. You will find that the most sought-after companies like Goldman Sachs, Mondelez, Procter & Gamble, or Colgate Palmolive recruit from here.  You can easily get recruited, with better pay if you have an extensive profile. The placement pattern follows a generic curve only and most of the crowd gets the average package.  Some of the other factors like the minimum percentile of selection are 98.5%, infrastructure, networking opportunities with top 100 B.Tech students, organizers of Mood-I or E-summit, and moderators of the Business incubator of IIT B are more than what you'd need for your professional career. Even the ROI is better because of the low fee etc.  Even so, IIM Indore is an old IIM and that's what matters to most of the students who think of joining, so you may proceed considering what you'd like to do with your time and space.Read more

Ques. Which course should I choose, NITIE Powai or IIT Bombay?

● Top Answer By Komal Chawla on 18 Aug 21

Ans. NITIE Mumbai and IIT Bombay are the top choices for any engineer aspiring to undertake a management course. Both the institutes are excellent and have a brand name in the industry. IITs have a more inclination towards research work and projects like NITIE is a management college overall. The final choice depends upon your interests. The following are the points to be considered for making your choice. NITIE offers a PGDIE course, the oldest and the most preferred program. It teaches general management lessons. After the program, you get jobs related to management operations in the top MNCs. The Industrial connection of NITIE is better than the IITs. Being located in Mumbai, you will have enormous opportunities to work with the industries during the weekends. M.Tech offers a limited scope. It focuses more on developing technical skills. Therefore, you can expect jobs related to technical fields. IITs will offer you to work on the productivity management of the companies. The opportunity to grow is huge and you will also work on the research and development of the companies. Overall, you need to analyze your interests and select the best-suited option.Read more

Ques. What is the selection criteria for IEOR IITB? Which one is better IEOR IITB or PDGIE NITIE?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 18 Aug 21

Ans. The selection criteria consist of an initial shortlisting based on the GATE score, followed by a written test and a personal interview. Choosing which one is better depends on your personal preferences and interests. Nothing matters except your enthusiasm towards the course. You have to be dedicated enough or it will be nothing more than a degree. If you want to pursue a master's degree in operations research and data analysis from one of the world's top colleges, then IIT B is the ideal option for you to obtain.  If you look into the success of a huge placement package and wish to use your supply chain knowledge to aid business advancement, NITIE is the best option. It's also crucial to understand how you've planned your future and where you would like to see yourself in 10 years or 20 years. One of my close friends was in this institute and his plan was to start a business after obtaining some experience working in an industrial setting.  After five years on the job, he created his own small-scale manufacturing, which he is currently running successfully.  If all you want to do is work and advance in it, you'll need to start with an excellent job opportunity. You have a better chance of acquiring such an opportunity if you study at a better and more well-known college.Read more
