Ques. What is the total cost incurred in doing your MBA from NMIMS Mumbai?
● Top Answer By Sneha on 28 Feb 23
The following answer is based on my brother’s experience at NMIMS and may vary from person to person depending on their own personal expenses and standard of living. The table below shows the NMIMS MBA fee structure. Particulars Data Total Fees INR 23.90 Lakhs Hostel fees (Non-Refundable) INR 2,25,000- 3,00,000 Hostel fees (Refundable) INR 10,000 From the above data the approximate cost is 26-27 Lakhs. The additional expenses like hanging out, fares, and miscellaneous activities can amount to 1 Lakh. Now let’s consider you staying in a flat and not a hostel. The MBA fees remain the same. But the living expenses are considerably cut down. My friend lives in a flat with 5 people and shared her average expenses. The rental expense was 10k The security deposit was 1 lakh 6-8k per month for electricity bills and grocery shopping An additional 2-3k for hanging out The average auto fare would be 3k per month The rough average is 20k per month and if you calculate the same for 21 months it amounts to 4.2 Lakh. The total expenses including tuition fees amount to 30-33 Lakhs. I think it’s better to go to a hostel than to a flat....Read more
Ques. What is the value for part time PGDM in NMIMS Mumbai?
● Top Answer By Yasmeen S on 28 Feb 23
Most part-time courses carry no real value other than adding the post-graduate tag. They have no worth in the corporate world irrespective of whichever reputed college you have chosen. NMIMS is one of the top reputed B Schools in India and has a big brand name. The faculty is extremely talented and experienced The placement scenario is pretty good except that part-time courses have no fixed statistics. The fees are relatively high when compared to other B Schools of the same league The curriculum is very rigorous and requires constant attendance and involvement. Being a part-time PGDM, you are probably a working professional and it becomes very difficult to balance work with studies. The curriculum required you to submit assignments and give frequent exams. This might be difficult for working people. Unfortunately there is quite a level of distinction between full-time PGDM students and part-time PGDM students as the former get the most attention from teachers. The curriculum is rushed in order to get completed within 21 months imparting no real learning I know a friend who chose NMIMS Executive MBA and paid hefty fees just for the brand name instead of doing the same course at a less popular B School. She regretted her decision and claimed the program to be a total waste of money and time. She said she could have done the same from another B School at half the cost. So part-time MBA itself is not that worthless, but paying a hefty sum merely for the brand name and postgraduate tag is illogical. You can do the same program at a much lesser cost than other B Schools....Read more
Ques. How do the new HR programs of IIM Ranchi, NMIMS, and XIMB measure up to the established ones of XLRI, TISS, MDI and SCMHRD?
● Top Answer By Apoorv Ashutosh on 11 Jan 23
The simple answer to your question is no, the new HR programs of IIM Ranchi, NMIMS, or XIMB are not at par with the established ones XLRI, TISS, MDI, and SCMHRD. The established programs especially that of XLRI are the epitome of HR programs. They cannot be compared to the new ones at any given level or parameter. Faculty: The professors of XLRI are renowned throughout the industry for their competency. They specialize in almost every domain one can think of be it Law, Competency Modeling, Compensation, or Performance Management. Peers: It’s the cream students who get the opportunity to get into a prestigious college like XLRI. You can see tough competition between the finest students at college. Every individual has a valuable opinion and stands to contradict others. Their thinking pattern is broad and given a case study, they look at all angles from accounting to finance to laws while proposing the solution. The situation at TISS is also quite similar. Now one can say that the curriculum can be replicated and learned faculty can be sought to match the quality of the HR program at these institutes. But the truth is faculty and curriculum are the main but not the only factors that determine an institute's worth. Its own culture, ethics, and background have a lot to do with the programs it offers. So one cannot match XLRIs programs no matter how much they try....Read more
