What students say about Mumbai University - [MU]

Likes

  • I like management studies and accounting, so I took commerce faculties. They are cooperative and support us a lot. We also went for an industrial visit, and all teachers were excellent.
  • Companies like Flipkart and Amazon have visited the college and offered jobs to students, so the placement is very good.
  • The placement is good but there are not a lot of opportunities for the same.
  • Everyone has their problems in life; some get good support from their family for their studies, but some students do not. For these students, college offers an installment fee structure so that they can pay their fees in installments.
  • Awesome! The plan is well executed, and all the students are motivated to always take part in it.
  • I havent experienced it yet. There are hostels where you can stay and have a good experience with your friends.
  • It was a great experience over there as I studied what they taught us and gained a lot of knowledge from one place.

Dislike

  • There was no college internship required as it was a distance education course with the University of Mumbai, Santacruz.
  • Just one company had come to the department for placement; they had the worst experience ever.
  • The fees are very low compared to any other colleges in Mumbai.
  • Infrastructure is the worst. There are no sports facilities or grounds. The library is small and has limited books. There is no wifi for students. They dont even clean the college on a regular basis; it is cleaned only on the first day of college. Hygiene is a significant issue.
  • Not at all good, it is the worst part of studying outside. There is no good food, no proper rooms for students, and ragging is also one reason why it is not good

I want to complete my master's degree in Information technology that's why I choose this course. Faculties are also helping in our studies. They take our lectures and tests also. They help every student.

Remarks:

The admission process is nice and fair for every student. We found the application form and application fees and application dates on the website of the college. Yes, the reservation category also has reservations seats.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course as I was having a keen interest in the field of biotechnology. As biotech in this current era is having a very wide application in the field of pharmaceutics, forensics, etc. Most of the faculty are PhD holders and masters in the subject.

Remarks:

The admission process was very easy if you are an in-house student with good grades above the cut-off score you can directly fill in the admission form, pay the fees and avail of the seat. Before this registration has to do on the Mumbai university website.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I had completed my bachelor's in biotechnology and had decided to complete my master's degree in the same, as it has been a subject that had always fascinated me from the time it was introduced to me, and with the incredible faculty of Pillai college, the interest and the inquisitive nature has only grown over the time. For the B.Sc is 60 and for M.Sc it is 40, the number of faculty is 15 teaching and 4 non-teaching staff in the department which makes it well balanced and there have never been any delays in any of the activities be it practical or theory lectures. The teachers have always been ready to offer any help and guidance when I have faced any hurdles be it on the academic or emotional front, they have always been supportive. The teaching methods used are very interactive, videos regarding the topic were constantly been utilised, and reference books, were always made aware of opportunities available, all this always helped me in scoring good marks in the exams.

Remarks:

The admission process was easy and convenient, the administrative desk is very helping and helped in understanding all the requirements that are needed for admission. One must hold a bachelor's degree in biotechnology to avail of the master's program for the same, the cut-off is declared by the college one can check for the same on the official college website. Application release dates and final submission dates are updated on the website, for M.Sc the admission process begins around the start of June, the application forms have to be availed in an offline mode, and the fees for the program are around 50,000 per year. There are reservations for SC, ST, defence background and Malayalam minority students.

Remarks:

Must graduate, offline admission process. On the college campus, we used to collect admission forms. Reservation is there in the admission form. The admission process is very fast and smooth, I don't have any suggestions.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Biotechnology was the field connected to every life science study and had my interest. Faculty is more than capable of managing the department as most are experienced and the new teachers always try to improve as per students' needs. As said above most of the faculty is experienced and each of them uses presentations, videos, e-books, etc. to provide a better learning experience. Exams are held well on time by the exam committee but as for the 4th semester due to the dissertation project of 3 months, it was a little hard to complete everything at once. But as the teachers managed to complete the syllabus, students are less stressed compared to before.

Remarks:

Eligible credit courses are offered for training the students and further development. Application forms, application fees, and application dates are found in the ground floor office. The admission process is well-serviced, facilitates students, and follows rules and proper discipline.
