What students say about Chandigarh University - [CU]

Likes

  • The course curriculum is as up to date with the IT industry as we were taught by the best faculty, who themselves have either a doctorate or a masters.
  • Chandigarh University provides the best internship opportunities in companies like Amazon and Microsoft, offering the role of SDE intern at Amazon and other companies.
  • HCL, GOOGLE, AMAZON, L&T, GODREJ, DELOITTE, DELL, HP, FLIPKART - these companies dont need any introduction, do they? Well, getting a job in one of them is a dream come true. So, the best part of CU is to guarantee our placement and a package ranging up to 35lpa.
  • The fees structure is 32500 for a minimum of 2 years for an MBA course, offering the best scholarship and placement opportunities to develop knowledge and skills.
  • The campus life is very vibrant. Our annual fest is called CU Fest, and there are 3-4 tech fests organized every month.
  • The hostel facilities are also awesome. Lots of facilities are provided inside the room, such as a study table and a mirror with Wi-Fi.
  • All stream students can be admitted in BCA. The application form is available on the Chandigarh University website. You can take a scholarship exam to reduce fees, and 100% scholarship will also be provided if you do your best in the scholarship exam.

Dislike

  • I came here for CSE, but due to my low percentage in class 12, it was not possible.
  • The college didnt provide us with an internship. Neither did they encourage us to go for an internship, which I feel is my worst experience here.
  • The placements for civil and mechanical engineering were very poor during the years when I was studying.
  • The fee policy is well set and the cost is up to the mark, but updating and paying fees is too difficult via NEFT/RTGS or offline methods.
  • The classrooms are pathetic and poorly maintained, with flies in them, broken benches, and nearly every bench having an exposed hook on its corner. This hook tears through clothes and cuts the skin.
  • The hostel facility is also available, but the food is not good. I would rate the hostels 3.5 out of 5. There is tight security for the hostels. The behavior of some wardens was also very bad, and they speak rudely with students.
  • In other words, BUniversity is not good for any student. All students from different states come here.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Personally, me being a commerce student with a vast interest in law made me choose this particular course. Choosing this course increases my options for a career in bachelor of commerce as well as in law with integrated options as well. Faculty: Student ratio in UILS is nominal with ample Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors. With 180 seats per course divided among 3 sections each, available professors are enough for the same. Faculty's qualification is Phd for professors with amazing work profiles as can be seen in their CVs provided on University's website. The teaching method is subjective with every subject. Like subjects of law are taught in a pretty well way accompanied by ample competitions like a moot court, ADRs, Judgement Writing, quizzes etc. contrary to theoretical subjects which are boring. Mid sems being objective and Final exams being subjective are conducted every semester with a moderate level of difficulty requiring a lot of content to score well.

Remarks:

To get into the University Institute of Legal Studies, PU, Chd, any candidate who has already passed or appeared in March 2023 in the 10+2 Examination of the CBSE, New Delhi or its equivalent Examination conducted by a recognised Board/University shall be eligible to appear in the entrance test for BA LLB and BCom LLB. For getting admission, the candidate should have passed the 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of SC/ST/OBC/PwD) from any recognised Board/University. The admission to BCom LLB shall be on the basis of merit of the Entrance Test (50%) and 10+2 marks (50%) along with weightage for commerce subjects and other admissible weightage. The application form is available on uglaw.puchd.ac.in detail of steps to be followed. The last date to register for the same is 10th April 2023 and 17th April 2023 to complete the form. Registration fees: General Rs. 2395 and SC/ST/PwD- Rs.1198 The process can be easier if personal emails can be received upon completion of every step.
