Scholarships Offered by the Government of India

  • Central Sector Scholarship Scheme of Top Class Education for Scheduled Castes Students 
  • The scholarships are provided by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
  • Central Sector Scholarships Scheme provides financial support to meritorious students from SC background willing to pursue degree programs. 
  • Eligibility- Students belonging to SC/ ST category with gross family income up to INR 4.5 lakh per annum are eligible for scholarship under the scheme.
  • Reimbursement- As reimbursement, this scholarship covers major finances such as 

i) tuition fees, 

ii) non refundable charges,

iii) lodging & boarding charges, 

iv) books & stationery charges and 

v) cost of IT equipment for the first year.

  • National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students 
  • The financial aid programme is initiated by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
  • Eligibility Criteria- The scholarships provide financial support to pursue higher degree courses like MPhil (2 years), Ph. D (5 years) or integrated M.Phil + Ph. D (2=3= 5 years) for students belonging to the ST category. 
  • A Minimum aggregate of 55% marks at the final examination/grading at PG level from a recognised university is necessary in order to be eligible for National Fellowship Programmes.
  • Selection Criteria- Students eligible for availing such scholarships shall be selected on a merit-basis. Students can apply for the right IIM Udaipur Scholarships at the notified time, through https://fellowship.tribal.gov.in 
  • Minimum Income Criteria- There is no income criteria for students eligible under the National Fellowship Programmes. 
  • Age Limit- Maximum 36 years, as on the first day of July of the relevant year of the award of scholarship. 
  • Seats Intake- Total no. of seats intake in National Fellowship Programmes is 750 post conditions applied:- 

i) If the number of applicants exceeds the number of available slots for awards, selection will be made on the basis of marks obtained in post-graduation exam.

ii) If enough students from ST Category are not available, the no. of fellowships not availed by students during that year will be carried forward to the next academic year.

  • Merit-cum means based scholarship scheme belonging to the minority communities - Ministry of Minority Affairs.
  • The Merit-cum means based Scholarships provide financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students who belong to minority communities to pursue professional and technical courses.
  • Eligibility- Students should have an aggregate more than 50% marks (or equivalent grade in the previous final examination). Also, the annual income of their parents/guardians from all sources should not exceed INR 2.50 lakhs.
  • Selection Criteria- Only the students from minorities sections are selected for these scholarships. Minorities section include Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jain and Zoroastrians (Parsis) under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.
  • Seats Intake- Around 60,000 scholarships are to be distributed as “Fresh” Scholarships, besides, Renewal scholarships.
