Course Details
Alagappa University MCA Admission 2023 is open now. The last date to apply is May 10, 2023. Interested candidates can apply online on the official website – alagappauniversity.ac.in. Admission to the MCA program will be based on scores obtained in the entrance test conducted by the university. Entrance test for the MCA program will be conducted on May 21, 2023.
Alagappa University offers a 3 years MCA program under its Department of Computer Application. The program is recognized by UGC and AICTE. Alagappa University MCA Course Highlights
- The duration of the MCA program is three years consisting of six semesters.
- Each semester consists of a minimum of 75 working days with 6 working hours per day.
- This university also offers a 1-year MCA program (weekend) for working professionals.
- It charges students a sum of INR 29000 per year for the MCA course.

Alagappa University MCA Eligibility Criteria
- For admission in a full-time MCA program in the academic year 2023-24, a student must have completed his/her bachelor's degree (either BCA or B.Sc). The education format should be 10+2+3.
- Prospective applicants should have B.Sc. in Mathematics/ Statistics/ Applied Sciences/ Computer Science/ Information Technology OR B.Sc. Degree in Physics/ Chemistry/ Electronics with Mathematics as an ancillary subject OR BCA/ B.Com./ BBA/ B.E IT/ Computer Science/ Electronics/ Communication/ Electrical with minimum of 60% marks.
- There will be a relaxation of 5% marks for the students who belong to the reserved category.
Alagappa University MCA Admission Criteria
- For admission to the MCA course in the academic year 2023-24, a student has to clear an entrance exam organized by the university.
- The selection will be based on the 50% marks scored by the student in the entrance exam and 50% marks scored in the undergraduate level degree course. A candidate from a reserved category will get some relaxation here.
- After that, the student will have to go through GD and/or PI.
- The selected students will then be allotted seats.
- Only the successful students will secure their place for admission.
How to Apply?
A student can submit the application form for admission to the MCA course in the academic year of 2023-2024 online. Here is a guide to filling the application form:
- Visit the official website of Alagappa University.
- After that, the candidate needs to find the link to the online application form and click on it.
- Then, the candidate should fill up the application form according to the instructions.
- Then, the candidate has to upload the documents (ex: mark sheets, identity proof, photo, signature, etc.) that are asked.
- The candidate needs to preview the form and check properly if all the information is filled up properly.
- Now, the candidate has to pay the exam fee and submit the application form.
- The payment of the application fee can be done online using UPI, Credit Card/ Debit Card, Net Banking, and more.
- The application fee for the student who is applying for the MCA program is INR 500. However, for SC and ST category students, the fee is INR 250.

Program Structure
- The duration of the MCA program is three years consisting of six semesters.
- Each semester consists of a minimum of 75 working days with 6 working hours per day.
- A student needs to take the semester exam of all the respective papers.
- Semester exams are taken twice every single academic year in November and April. Each semester paper has a duration of 3 years.
- The program follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).
Credit Requirements
- Each student should take 140 credits to complete the MCA programme.
- Students may be allowed to take interdisciplinary courses in a semester offered by the other Departments as interdisciplinary courses with the advice of the course coordinator.
- Each student has to register for at least 8 credits in the interdisciplinary courses during the programme.
- The number of credits registered should not exceed 12 credits for the entire period of study.
- The project work (one semester duration) is to be carried out in the VI Semester and the project report carries 15 credits.
Examinations
- Each theory course carries 4 credits / 5 credits with 75 marks in the Semester (University Examination) and 25 marks in the Internal Assessment and each Lab (Practical) course carries 3 credits with 75 marks in the Semester examination and 25 marks in the Internal Assessment.
- The passing minimum for each course in a semester is 45% in the external examinations and 50% in aggregate by combining external and internal.
